martin, ease up, it's all in fun, not a challenge, no ones keeping score and no one means to slight you....

really, ease back there people s are good people and they will not treat you any differently than they Will treat someone who has been here for a longer period of time, unless you alienate yourself.

Cheer up, ease back and laugh, its all about fun

Possible answer to Mr. Cananaugh's question #2 in post #7: "aitch" remove the a, i, t, and the c and you still have "h"

Has anyone figured out the pattern yet?

2. What five letter English word does not change its pronunciation when four letters are taken away?
3. It is weightless, you can see it. If you put it in a barrel it will make it lighter?

I've wondered about the third word that ends with gry for years................

Another unanswered riddle I've heard more than once....

Enquiries have been so often addressed to me, as to whether any answer to the Hatter's Riddle can be imagined, that I may as well put on record here what seems to me to be a fairly appropriate answer, viz: `Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!' This, however, is merely an afterthought; the Riddle, as originally invented, had no answer at all.

Oh and by the way....

Hungry
Angry
Aggry

Just in case you don't believe it, this is what Webster says:

\Ag"gry\, Aggri \Ag"gri\, a. Applied to a kind of variegated glass beads of ancient manufacture; as, aggry beads are found in Ashantee and Fantee in Africa.

And, if that wasn't enough.....

Puggry

\Pug"gry\, Puggree \Pug"gree\, n. [Written also puggaree, puggeree, etc.] [Hind. pag[.r]i turban.] A light scarf wound around a hat or helmet to protect the head from the sun. [India] --Yule.
