StarDock Central Is Available

Friday, February 7, 2003 by da_zman20 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Just wanted to let everyone know... go to your Component Manager... or Drenging.net game manager and then the news link... that will give you the site to download from... been checking it out... but i've already discovered a few bugs... lol... it won't recogniz my Cursor Xp Registration Number, and everytime install BandVWM after about 30 seconds it makes a noise as though there is a new update... so I look bandVWM is listed as not installed and it the update is the version I just installed... but it's way better than the old Component Manager

Tried it and unstalled it. OD programes I have installed do not appear as being installed. the programs I have show a different version No. How do you tell the difference between beta, alpha and released. I ticked the check box for beta but could not see any difference. Probably just me.

I really like it, especially how the program updates itself. It's much cleaner. Now I can be sure I'm always using the most up-to-date OD programs.

Have also tried both available servers and the download speeds are very slow at the moment. Under CM my speeds are around 300 Kbytes/sec. (consistent with my highspeed dsl connection) With this application it has dropped to regular telephone modem levels, (around 10 Kbytes/sec). I'm guessing this is also a bug or a server problem.

A kind note to everyone: please remember that this is still in beta. The lists are not completely populated, CursorXP has problems (like I mentioned before, we are working on them). It's still being worked on. Not everything is optimized yet. Not everything is implemented or finished.

But, I do think that the team has done a hell of a job so far. And I'm confident that all the little bugs will be worked out before release. It just keeps getting better. What a year, huh? We get Stardock Central *and* WindowBlinds 4.0!!!

I also think that everyone has done a great job on this application. The previous posts from me were strictly for information purposes. No complaint was intended. If it sounded like I was complaining I hope you will accept my apology. It was not intended as such.

Can't get it through CM, as I haven't been able to get it to work for months. I've been using the web interface for downloads, but I don't see this on there any where. Am I missing it or has it not been put up there yet?

I really like it... and I will use this now instead of CM... already updating... also.. now the updates have more numbers.. like for instance... on CM highest SkinStudio... was like 3.90a or something... but on Stardock central it's 3.90a.12345 or somehting like that... lol can't remember... wondering if its a new feature where we get more updates or something... just wondering...

Thanks, stark23x!

This project is truely a team effort.

It's really great to hear all the positive feedback on this. There are obviously still issues to work out, but all the feedback so far has been quite positive.

It's just so cool!
