War?

Ok. I hope this doesn't become a "lets blow them up" or a "give peace a chance" thread but I was wondering something stratigic (spell?)
What if the US attacks Iraq and since Iran is also part of the "axil of evil", maybe it too will feel threatened and attack the US troops as well. I actually think they will attack them and that is what Hussien means by "many body bags".
Does anyone think the US has thought of this?

Iran is suffering its own internal strife right now. The majority of the population is composed of relatively young people. The younger generation has been disillusioned with the fundamentalists in power and have been steadily getting bolder and more vocal with their protests.

I dont think that Iran will get into it, but i am more worried with what N. Korea might try once(if) we are preoccupied with Iraq. Has anyone thought of that?

Saddam does a lot of huffing and puffing so it's hard to say what's just bluff or might have substance. Remember his threat of the "Mother or all battles" in '91?
As for Iran they have many reasons to not support Iraq and Saddam. The ten years' war between them, Iraq's chemical attacks on Iranian villages if I recall correctly and oppression of the Shiite minority in Iraq. Furthermore, Saddam might trot out the religion card to garner some support from the Arab/Muslim world, but his is essentially a secular gov't. He obviously wouldn't tolerate a fundamentalist movement in Iraq that thinks it should be in charge. (Although he might not have a problem supporting them in other countries to serve his purposes.) I'd figure Iran would wait and see what's in it for them or at least see what happens.

Remember Hitler? Nobody thought he would kill 6 million people, stop Hussain now because he will help the terrorists. Some of the reports that have come out of that country make me wonder how people can be so evil.

Unfortunately, Saddam's been his evil old self for many years and he was for a time a US ally and got US support until that unfortuate Kuwait episode. (He tried to cut a deal with the US to share the spoils and probably was shocked when the US turned him down. He didn't rate as high in terms of US interests as the Saudis.) Previously the US provided Saddam with some of those nasty WOM goodies (supporting him in his war with Iran) that we are now upset about. So in the past at least, the US was an enabler for Saddam and sat by as he did those terrible things to his own people and others. The US gov't supports these kinds of guys, knowing what they are and what they do, and then later determines they are bad men and pose a threat. Well, yeah.

Iran is in no position, financially, militarily or politically to get involved in another war.
I doubt their people want to even contemplate the thought.
North Korea are playing mind games, lifting of boycotts and oil sanctions is their one aim.

North Korean on the other hand...
I keep thinking about it:
1- North Korea and Iraq are both parts George Butch's "Axe of Evil"
2- North Korea needs oil but have plenty of military power
3- Iraq has oil but no military power
Put all this together, mix it well, put it in the oven for 25 minutes, and you have big trouble.
I might even say World War 3.

Hm, another scenario I often have to think about is Saddam driven out of Iraq and fundametalists getting the power after a short period of time (remember Taliban ?). I'm not sure if I want to see that...

Well, what is very likely is that if Saddam is driven out of power the Kurds may obtain their independance in the North and the Shia (sp?) in the south.
That would bring trouble in Turkey, cause their Kurds would probably want to join the new Kurdish state, and the new state in the south would probably be under Iran "supervision", and Saoudi Arabia and a few other countries fear that.
Not a simple situation. Very dangerous to play with.
