Anybody ever been a model?

Saturday, January 4, 2003 by joetheblow | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I was wondering if anybody ever did modeling before. How much does it really cost to have all those photographs and "comp cards" made and remade evry month or so.

Is a value of $1000 (USD) come close?

I'm asking because I was "scouted" be someone who thinks I have "the look" and I never though about modeling (but if you get a job... IF... it sounds very good as far as payoff) but I thought it to be something that takes no energy and fuss so as to not distract me from my studies (and pay all these school bills)

Any suggestions?

One of the most interesting threads I've read in a long time. Used to date a 'model' and my kid used to be registered with a modeling agency. So i've had some exposure to the business.

Personally I guess I'm just too plug-ugly to be of interest . Or maybe I was just never spotted

Judge, I am sure if they thought you had the money, they would spot you quickly. You would have "the look".

Of course, if they are only going to get paid if you get a job, then you will never get "spotted" or have "the look". (unless you really have "The Look", then they will follow you down stairs or run up behind you to join there agency )

Motion, wasn't that tune from "The Pirates of Penzance"?

"I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse."
