/me needs a guru.....

Is there a website or forum where these guys hang out? Does anyone know a broadband expert who could help me? Are any of you experts in this field?
My ISP (NTLworld) have been no help at all, they said it was my fault for trying to upload big files!!! (I don't consider 128k to be a big file, do you?) and they said it's not a fault at their end, so they are not interested. I need to know if there are some settings I can adjust in my Network connection (bearing in mind that I have tried many things already with the assistance of T-Man, who has been a great help) or if its something to do with my network card or my digital set top box modem, or anything really!
I really need some help with this, pleeeeeeeze. So if any of you guys have any ideas, I will try anything!
Thank you............Bryan (BoXXi).

cable modem not an option.
Yes Patrick, strange about the upload speed, looked good on the tests, only 12kbs when I uploaded to Wincusto! Odd!
Any more suggestions?
I have to go to work now......will check back later.

You can re-install. From memory (I'm at work, W98 only..), go back to the same place then install> service and QOS should be on the list. This is most strange. Your connection should not be using or need QOS. We have a fully qualified network engineer coming in today to do some work, I will tap him for info (my qualification is NT/Exchange) see if he can shed some light.

I came across something interesting while I was at dslreports.com, At the top of the page it said."Proxy detected" and next to it was a link to explain what it meant. This is what it said.......
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We detect you are using a PROXY server to access the web! This means all your web requests are diverted through an ISP or company supplied gateway (yours is at 62.252.224.6), which does the job of fetching the page, then providing it to you.
This proxy server maybe a setting in your browser you can change, or may be transparent (invisible to you) and unavoidable.
Some proxy servers can be unreliable especially with dynamic content. Proxy servers may also cache content for faster access.. or may log the sites you visit. On a mainland broadband connection (other than satellite), the web is usually faster, more private, and more reliable, if you are not directed through a proxy or caching server.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I checked my settings, the proxy server box was unchecked. Does this mean it's a transparent one? If I bypass the proxy server is this likely to improve or worsen my situation?
