Rating Trolling
Friday, July 11, 2014 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I was made aware today (again) of someone rating trolling as I call it. This is where someone is purposely giving a skin a "1" rating to bring down the ratings. We (the moderators and admins) have been doing this long enough to know what a fair and reasonable rating is, and even giving leeway to that it's easy to see where someone is just doing to harm a skin rating.
The surprising part is this is done by people who have been here for years and are ranking members of the site.
Ratings have always been a touchy subject, but there comes a point where the actions of one member to clearly harm another members skin is something we won't tolerate. As an example, we deleted over 30 "1" ratings made by one person on competing skins in the same category.
From here on I will demote any member regardless of their current ranking who is doing this in a clearly malicious manner.

A very positive action, and I request all menbers has be a little more responsible intheir judgment, sometimes a little encouragement can make or break difference and force the other to make a better quality result. (Judge your work friends like other thank you)

Yes, amen, sure is causing a lot of extra work.
If ya get pissed at someone don't think you can down rate all his skins and think there won't be any price to pay. Bring your grievance to a mod or admin and we will take care of the problem. Its safer and easier that way.

What sucks even more is all the extra work this creates for the Mods and Admins.
This part leaves me speechless.
How about a 30 day ban to go along with the 30 "1" ratings.
........
I miss when we used to help each other. Like the 'Rare Icon Request' thread and such. Not only does this kind of crap depress and disappoint....it's too easy (embarrassingly easy) to get caught up in. I hate the 'top this' attitude and the underlying competitiveness (in forums and galleries) that often becomes more of a bitching marathon or hen party.
Sometimes, what goes on in the open (and in the background) is like the fucking Hunger Games of skinning. I admit, I got caught up in it more than once but never again. It takes all the damn joy out of skinning and conversing with fellow skinners and the like. If I want back stabbing, rumor mongering, underhanded bullshit I'll go to my next high school reunion.

Well said, Po. It really is disappointing...and needless.
Well...it was always easier to taste a drop of salt water in a glass of water than a drop of sugar...It has been taken care of by hard working Mods, and on the other hand, we can truly enjoy DavBax's well deserved promotion.

lol..Busted.
Ratings are such a waste of time to begin with....Imo.
I mean why not take action over 'Fugazi Fiving' too?

Meh....ratings are overrated.....
But, yes, by all means, demote the evildoers.

I would add that I have never given less than a 3 (six stars). It may not be a good thing, but if I dislike a work so much to rate it less than 3, I won't rate at all.
If I dislike a member, I simply don't support/download their work.

anywho, this is long overdue and i commend the mods for taking this action.

About time too
This was happening back when I was a mod. It's sad and pathetic.
