Community Project BIOSPHERE
Community Project
Thursday, February 13, 2014 by neone6 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
A thread to continue the community project, Working name BIOSPHERE-talk.
It looks Like I´m not the One to do the Blind afterall then due to what it seems to require & don´t have enough time I´ll withdraw my skin and graphics.
-I will release this skin At a later date as an individual upload with another name
Hopefully someone else with enough time on their hands can create a WindowBlindsskin for this project.
I did my best Thanks /Andrew

I saw 'community project' in the thread title and thought....'Heavy Equipment', 'Formula One',...'LOS', ...'Deviantskin'.... [yes, there were several...beyond local site boundaries], but instead this appears to have been a 'look-at-what-I-am-doing-and-post-suggestions' instead.
Then, after a bit of BS along with actual good input the bat and ball is collected up and it's gone.
Disappointing.
Indeed.

Although I feel somewhat a part of the negative start to this project, I did not intend that.
I was responding, and yes, in some eyes, wrongfully.
Past that, I know you all had your heart set on Neones skin, and I am not Neone, but would love to take part if it is acceptable to do so.
I have been hesitant from the start on community projects because it seems to limit the people involved.
After Jafos post, that is what I would consider community also. Lots of input and take some time, no hurry.
I as of now can only do wb skins and maybe icons, I do not know the other skinning procedures and would be lost.
Also a turn off is I am not very sci-fi and have no vision for such things, you know, you have seen my work, lol.
But, I would try any style and have until I am dead to finish{lol} if you are not in a hurry either.
I await the threads opinion.
Also, I could suggest, Bleumart or Destrohelix as candidates also, and they skin other stuff.
Cheers and I hope this comes back to life.
Andy,Kitty, luv ya both, heads up and smile.

(sarcasm may be present in latter part of this reply)
No I don't see sarcasm. I can visualize what it was like and guess being old lets me do that. I can remember asking about Stardock back in 2001. However at that time I was working 6 days a week, 60 to 70 hours per week. So extra time wasn't even a thought but Windowblinds interested me to start with. I joined in 2007 but was taking care of my wife till she passed in 2009. Than it took me another 1 1/2 before I became active. I realize this isn't the thread for this conversation and I apologize for that. Saying that it appears this thread is just about dead so i see no harm. Just want all to know I do the best I can with skinning, but most important to me is I enjoy what I do, Just also want all to know I have and still do look at the past skinners works and do realize the talent that was present back then.
Guess I'm a bit sad because I didn't really get to see what was going to take place with this project and was really hoping a few of the old timers would show up and I could learn from them. If another Community project ever gets going I have no doubt I have learned what it's all about. Sorry for this post and just felt compelled to write this. If it's to far out of line please just delete it.

Another FYI, I have only windows 7! Vista disc is somewhere, but would have to reinstall.

I hope all the past talk is about leading by example and not a sarcastic way of telling folk they're doing a job that will never be equal. There is alot of past talk, and if the oldsters really cared maybe they'd join in. Not sure how this can be fixed? More folks participating would be one, also being a little more sensitive to other people's feelings never hurts when lots of differing opinions are involved. And different thinking than one's own is part and parcel with a "community project"so getting the right mind set is key. It's so easy for things too get carried away. And Snowman, these are the good ole days.

Also, I did not , do not , intend any disrespect to other talents here by suggesting the two skinners I did, just thought, new blood, new ideas and the community could help out with details and step up there game in the process, then we all benefit from to new talented skinners. That is all I meant.
Otherwise, The list is endless who could do some skinning.

If anyone still wants to possibly be in on this, move it to the other suggestion thread.

Otherwise, we'll call it a day.

seems bats and balls have definitely left the field...
really?... you had to delete every post you made?..
a large proportion of skinners here work or study full time.... skinning is a hobby... to be done in the evenings...weekends... days off.... nobody expected you to put off paid work to do this....and as you do seem to skin quite prolifically..... you no doubt do it in the time you have 'free'...
As the windowblind takes the most time of any skin, everyone would have been happy to wait on it, while putting in their suggestions along the way... instead of going at it like a bull at a gate while sidelining input...
With an open mind and some stickability....you might have actually enjoyed participating in this team project and seeing what the combined outcome was like, not just your vision...
too bad... it had potential to be an interesting suite...and moshi's ideas were cool... and could have been perhaps directioned to wallpapers as it would have been quite labour intensive to do multiple blind substyles...
teddy... love the wallpaper...
..nice to see something positive came from everyone's time spent here...

Maybe you should make one. See how easy it is to make everyone happy. I doubt you will, you just want to be an old cheerleader.
It takes time to learn how to finesse the public. I hope he come's back. We don't have any skinners to lose.
Reply #152 Wednesday, February 19, 2014 8:52 AM
it is/was a 'community project'... the idea is to make an 'attempt' at making 'everyone' happy.... as 'everyone/community' is supposed to have 'input'.. that's the whole idea... something that was lost here.... my 'chearleading' as you so quaintly put it, was an attempt to support a project that was struggling with interest from the beginning... and my 'contribution', would have been a wallpaper I was planning..
and finessing the public ain't that hard... basically.... don't be prickly and over defensive...
He hasn't gone far...
it seems it will be completed... just not by the community... as he has his own vision for it... I'm sure it will turn out very well... just not as intended...
there's a hint...

The project Jafo put up was a touch before my time but I do remember 1/2 dozen of those greats. There has been a few community projects in the dozen years I've been here. The reason they worked is all the people checked their ego's at the door and produced some great work.

If we can get the community spirit back into this effort, I'll be more than happy to embrace it.
I am truly sorry that I lost interest in it before. but as has been noted, the community spirit just wasn't there.
Personally, I need this as I have all but lost the urge to skin since the retiring of DX, and I also seem to have hit a standstill pretty much since my recent surgery.
I was hoping that this project might be my motivation to get back into skinning.
Anyway, guys, thanks for putting up with me.

That's old want to be cheerleader Syd. And I know like everyone else knows because we can read too, he is finishing on his own time. And I certainly didn't find him "prickly or over defensive" any more than you. I think your all pent up in that penthouse of yours...hahaha Anyways
And so sorry to hear of you thinking of leaving Wincustomize Red. Your needed here even more than before. I really hope you can find it in you to continue the ten star skinning and participation that you do. It would make a difference if you left.

And what did I say that was ever different about community? I am allowed a community opinion.. I thought
Of course, we are all entitled to an opinion. And you didn't say anything different about community, I didn't say you did.
