Suggestions for 2014 WC Community Project

Tuesday, February 4, 2014 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The last community skin we did was the Holiday Community Suite back in 2009.  I wouldn't mind doing another winter holiday suite, but that's for later in the year.

https://forums.wincustomize.com/363398/

So lets start getting ideas for the next community suite.  Do we go for a season like Spring or Summer?  Another holiday?  A different type of theme?

Lets hear it and discuss it and get moving on the next one.

when someone says go, I will upload.Just need to know any specifics on where or links if ya could

Everyone has been uploading already. I think John (Philly is collecting all the links and when things are done he will provide that. Will check with him when he comes on Skype or maybe he will post here and advice us.

I always say make or revise what you feel best with. The above SS does look great.

I was just thinking also, I will include a reverse for left and right side of the screen so as to keep uniformity.

Is that a good idea?

Perfect match. Now you can make any color you wish as it only took me three minutes to do it all. You are quite welcome, anytime.

JJ930, sent you a pm, in case you miss it, try "Partridge Family" in textures as a hold over, just a thought.

There's a nice easy way. When you have the reply on your screen open the start menu, there should be a thing called a snipping tool. Click on that, the screen will go opague then use your cursor to grab and edge and drag out the part you want to copy. Click ok on you're done. Now go look for it and use something like photobucket to put it here.

This coming storm is playing havoc with my internet. So far it has gone out a half dozen times. I'm not liking this winter too too much.

Did not catch that RND, too late just posted and wow what a struggle, like Ross said above I guess.

Made one additional Rainy for the left side , just reversed frames, without the weekday dot and square. In case some want plain. Hope you enjoy, I enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to expand my skills a little.

WC, thanks.

The project seems to be moving along very well with good looking skins.  It even looks like there will be several variations of Rainlendar skins, cool.

If anyone needs skins tested, I know kind of late, I am available to test on Win 7.  I'm sure everyone is working hard so it would be a shame if a skin is uploaded the may have bugs or doesn't work correctly.

From what I can see there really isn't any need to rush and upload skins base upon a set time frame or did I miss something.

No rush Philly, you are correct.

Skin site is not going anywhere, I was just anxious and ready , Dave checked me over. Hope more skins come!

If I did make any mistakes, BLAME DAVE BAXTER, no, just let me know. Thanks Dave for allowing me to pick.

Quoting sydneysiders, reply 427is it a piece of coding that could be added?

no there isn't.

yes, there is.

the key would be using variables and gradients when creating the skin. Rainlendar's "new" (just about 8 years) skin format offers everything that is necessary. if you would want a color picker gui instead of being limited to pre-defined variables, you could create that in Rainlendar itself, but i'd personally would use a third party app for that, the api is powerful enough for that.
