Winamp is officially dead

That is too bad, although I started using AIMP some time ago.

I have a setup that just needs a bigger screen with A/V jacks. My present TV doesn't have them. A small woofer and five small speakers hooked up to five channels. LF LR RF RR and CTR. Whole thing I got at a thrift store for 30 bucks. Works very good. Not high end but it rocks!
Whatever you are happy with is all that matters.
This is a shot comparing flac file size and mp3 file size. Notice the flac folder is a bit more than twice the size in files but look at the difference in gb.

I used to use Winamp all the time back when I played online shooters. For games like that I turn the game music off and would run my MP3's instead. I never used any of the new features so I stuck with a late 90's early 2000's version of Winamp. I haven't used it in years though. The few times I do feel like playing music in the background now I just use Media Player even though it's a bit more resource intensive then the old school Winamp. You do have me curious if my old version will still work now however. I'll have to dig it out and see.

I have never tried to run it and doubtful it would work now but I have winamp version 0,98 from the 90's. I swore that I would never give up winamp but after getting use to Foobar2000 I don't think I could ever go back.

Look at any of my posted screenshots and you'll see my WA skin....and the reason it's done that way....minimalism and fitting in with [almost] any background...being both neutral and mostly transparent.
It's always onscreen...but unobtrusively...

There is not a thing wrong with that Jafo. The only reason I don't use skins like that any more is because I very seldom listen to music while doing other things on the computer. I sit in front of the speakers and just chill out focusing on the music. When I do that I like to see a skin I find esthetically pleasing. Its all about personal preference.
For me music has become a hobby now that I have more time to enjoy it so I guess the music comes first and the skin second. That being said if I am going to look at a skin for substantial periods of time I like beefy retro looking skins, again just personal preference.
