I believe a picture is worth 1,000 words, the_Monk.

Do send one.

iOS...Linux...not hooked, but depending on what W9 looks like, a dual boot - Linux + W7 (for Ps) might be my future.

Come on now. NOBODY liked Windows ME.

I bought ME new in the box when it came out. Installed it, never had any issues with it.

I know where you're going with that one, Jim.

Doc, I swear, if you make Jim any skinnier his pants will drop off.

Bessie will get all kinds of nervous and the rest of us will be teetering on the brink of returning our lunches.

BEHAVE!

You were the one.

I heard tell that someone actually liked it.....but I thought that was just bullshit PR from Microsoft.

BTW....'ME' stood for 'Masochists Enjoy'

Win ME came installed on a computer I purchased and I had no problems with it.

Just because that computer died mysteriously has no bearing what so ever on Win ME! (the real Y2K bug!)

I installed 8.1 Saturday and after setting it to boot to desktop, Log in automatically, re-installing

one program, (notified through a Win 8.1 pop-up message, needed update anyway) and updating

Fences and Deskscapes, everything seems to be working just fine!

(did I write that correctly M$?  your not going to punish us again with another bloated OS, are you?)

No, they won't punish you again with another Vista.

Interesting article here that tells you how to download the 8.1 ISO so you could upgrade from it instead of from the cloud.

Haven't tested it, but here ya go if you feel all adventurous...

Oh.. RedneckDude... I know that "adventurous" is a damn big word for you with your 2 syllable hick talk and all. So sorry.

Here's a bit of a translation fer yuns..

ad·ven·tur·ous   (that there is 4 syllables.. don't try to count those on yer teeth or you'll not make it past 3 )
adˈvenCHərəs,əd-/
adjective

  1. willing to take risks or to try out new methods, ideas, or experiences.

    "let's be adventurous"

Quoting kona0197, reply 76Windows 8.1 is out and yet Windows 7 is still a better OS. Imagine that.

What device have you installed 8.1 on, or are you just posting the usual nonsense?

Yet another reason why I will wait for 9.  They already are moving up development on it.

About as popular as New Coke or Obamacare.

A lot of that is because of spin doctoring.  If you ask people which one they support, the ACA or Obamacare, the majority go with the ACA, which is the same... damn... thing.

One of my magazine editors tries every two-to-three months to get me to review peripherals and software for Win8. I tell him, no. He's already let slip that no other reviewers on staff want to install the OS, and I'm solidly among them.

I may be aging, and hardly gracefully, but I'm not senescent, yet.

EDIT: If this offends any Win8 users, just figure I don't understand all the joy, colors, and sweetness that it has, because I'm evil.

That says what exactly?   Even in the comments to the article itself there is some evidence that points to a specific mouse (Razer) as one that is having issues.  So?  Performance enthusiasts have always been the one's to bring 'issues' to the front.  Furthermore is this an issue with Windows specifically or is it an issue with Razer drivers or is it both?  How does that equal "....yet another reason to wait for 9 "?   Is Windows 9 going to magically not have any issues with hardware/drivers?   Right, that's because it will be Windows 9.....and we all know 9 is where it's at!
