ummmm, I didn't uninstall the old version either....just installed RC1 right over top of .99d. But mine now says that I'm running RC1. No problems running it...no problems with firewalls....nothing, just smooth sailing.

I wonder why the rest of you had so much trouble?

I dunno motion,I seem to always be able to find every pittfall. With every upgrade I have downtime. No matter if its Microsoft or Stardock there is always some silly hang up.It is quite nice to have the support of the discussion board to hear other peoples stories.Consider yourself lucky I guess,,

Uninstall and reinstall didn't fix it for me. I still can't preview. >

Chef Garry: Download the new library database from the menu. Shut down, SkinBrowser, re-start it, see what happens. BTW, thanks to those that recommended un-installing and re-installing. The version number is now correct. IMO, if that's necessary, the installer should notify the user via a dialog and/or simply initiate the uninstall and then re-install. It's reasonable to assume that an install over the previous version *should* update it correctly, but it doesn't.

BTW, I thought registered SkinBrowser users and users with a certain subscription level were supposed to have some sort of "priority" with respect to site access. Using SkinBrowser is so slow (cable connection) at the moment, it's a joke.

I had to also delete all the applicable files in the temp directories as well as uninstall and reinstall for the previews to work and the correct file version to be correct.

Perhaps what Geekboy suggested did the job as I do have previews. Version number still shows 0.99b but I can't say I care much about that.

I think the version number is taken from the registry settings and is (supposed to be) created by the installer. Presumably for some reason it's skipping that step with some people. Uninstalling probably wipes out those particular registry keys and reinstalling obviously puts the new value in.
