I wonder if to be involved in a software development team, one has to have a brain...?

1/ Almost everybody nowadays owns a 4:3 for some or 16:9 monitor for the vast majority, so switching from landscape view to portrait in the main configuration window is really an improvement..

2/ I don't know for you b ut I use windowblinds, beside it's ability to skin, to roll up windows. With this V8, using a masterskin, jakuta for example, let's roll up notepad.. or any subsystem windows...

So... Back to 7.41 for a while I guess.. !

It certainly is an unusual strategy to get assistance by insulting the developers on the developers own forums.

1) The default size of the WindowBlinds8 configuration UI is wider than it is tall, in fact the aspect ratio is more like 16:10 aspect ratio.  The window is resizable so you can make it wider or taller as per your need.  The main advantage of the new UI design is the ability to see many more skins in the skins list as the older design was very limited in this regard.

2) Unfortunately you have not provided any details of what the problem is other than you apparently have an issue with roll up.  It would have been helpful to provide details on a problem if you are interested in having it resolved.

I was about to post a nasty reply to her/him. However, I bit my tongue and decided not to stoop to her/his level. Thank you for addressing that Neil.

I am on Windows 8. This issue seems to be skin specific. Jakuta was out well before Windows 8 was.

Now, you haven't stated your OS, But I don't see this problem on 7. Just on Win 8.

It's been my experience that some skins roll up better than others, regardless of Master status. It is entirely up to the skinner how it appears in that mode.

Xiandi, for instance, does a marvelous job with her blinds in that regard.

to Neil Banfield:

I didn't know that asking an entity, above all a corporate one, about it's brain could be considered as an insult. If it is, I wonder what are the F...... words and many other toned ones US movies and series give us all days. Anyway... Oh, I forgot the politically correct, every one is allowed to f...... say something but outside the common place. OK, I got it !

Let's talk about the resizing thing... So, you designed an interface with a downward flow, resizable sure, but still downward when monitors are landscaping everything, more and more. I got it also, I can resize but still you are going from up to down so maybe when I'll resize max on the left and right I'll have more columns. Oh.... did you compare the available information from previous interface and this one ? Which one was clearer and usefull ?

I was so quick to uninstall it, maybe I miss something, but where are the start menu/taskbar/complete window previews in this interface (compared to the previous) ?

Now, let's see the roll thingy... I use, because I rolled back to it, V7.42 with an old modified skin, aeros. When I roll notepad or any sub system windows I get a clean result (without any tweaks of course). With V8 the same operation gives me a menu hanging directly to the desktop... Is this what you call improvement ?

to RedneckDude :

sorry, but I forgot to tell that I didn't see the need for my desktop to be moved forward to windows 8 : so in windows 7, with this master skin we spoke, Jakuta, rolling doesn't give a clean result anymore and when a software leaves its customers behind on the road of upgrade, I don't see it as an upgrade but a downgrade.

To all, even the the zealous followers, I didn't shout, I didn't cry it out loud, I didn't insult anyone, It wasn't names, maybe a bit hasty but justified. So it's rectified.

Can you provide a bit more detail?

OS version?

WB version?

Skin?

Screenshot of the settings?

Screenshot of the app?

Thanks

I think I may have found a bug in the WB8 Configuration UI. If I right click on a skin preview and select "Edit Style" or open the menu in the upper left and select "Edit in Skinstudio" nothing happens - I have to open SS manually.

Running WB8 Final on Windows 8 Pro.

Quoting PAIN-KILLER, reply 6WB8 is only $9.99 But it only works on two OSes. It appears that $19.99 as a pricepoint is gone, replaced with $9.99 to $4.99

I'd like to ask, that with most if not all ODNT apps selling for 1/2 to 1/4 the previous stand alone cost, will there be a price reduction in order for ODNT, both new and renewal? Currently, it is almost certainly cheaper to just buy what you need or can use with your OS than to purchase the package deal.

Good question. I hope to see an answer to this one.

That has been happening for ages, you need to reinstall SKS every time you do a WB update.

It seems that decor 8 doesn't work with WindowBlinds 8.0 Is there a work around or update to fix it?

Thanks

Hey Guys, I have a question--I'm thinking about getting a new laptop and of course it will have Win 8 on it. What Stardock programs will still work on it? Particularly Windowblinds, Object Dock, and Fences.

Currently WindowBlinds, ModernMix, DeskScapes, Start8, Decor8, Fences 2, Tiles, IconPackager, IconDeveloper, WindowFX 5 are designed to work with Windows 8. ObjectDock and Multiplicity are also supported.

Cool! How about CursorFX?

Don't want to lose my faves. Wish I could find a laptop that has what I want with Win 7 on it.....

CursorFX should work but isn't "certified" yet.
