Starone to Feline (re Menu)

Thursday, August 22, 2002 by starone | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hey, Feline. Remember the menu issue we were pondering over back on the object bar thread? Well, when the later version of WB came out and I updated to XP, the problem cleared up. However, I have just discovered that werewolf now has the same problem I had at the time. Whenever he tries to open up one of the items on the menu, instead of opening the program it throws him into Object Edit. This is all very strange, huh? Don't know why my problem cleared itself as I didn't do anything to get it to work. Thought this might be of interest to you as we had labored many hours over this. Also kind of hoping that maybe someone else may read this and have a clue that might help werewolf out.

Well, that's good news. I'll try to round werewolf up today and steer him towards the thread again. You two may yet get together. He can steer you toward the irc. I know he is still working on getting the solution.

i think we had best give up on the IRC plan.

this machine is sitting behind several firewalls, and i have heard that IRC and such arent allowed through.

anyway, plan B is interesting.

this involves getting you into the marathon thread, where you can explore your pussycat side more freely.

also it ups the odds of me getting the 2000th post

also, as a bonus, JavaBrain is already there, so hopefully we can get her to throw things at one of the stardock programmers if need be

feline wonders if i have the energy to drag werewolf back to the marathon thread for this discussion

perhaps if i rolled you there?

anyway, back to the plot. i dont get the problem you get with the menus, but then i dont have OE installed.

is OE in your windows path?

feline: we can go to the marathon thread...np...just let me know

The Stardock stuff in my path statement looks like this: D:\STARDO~1\OBJECT~1\OBJECT~1\ so it's hard to tell OE is my default txt editor...ie if I dbl click on a .txt file, OE is loaded.

Hum, while the cat's away, the mouse will play. Oops, sorry Feline, I forgot that we didn't switch nicks. Okay, I give, I'll go to the marathon thread, but I think this is going to hurt.

dont worry to much about all the noise and fuss in the marathon thread.

just rembember the kids will be kids. think of them as mobile cat toys is my advice.

anyway, you really should return since i / we are still trying to make some meaningful progress on the smart button issue.

we seem to have had some initial success, but it is now a matter of building on it.

feline thinks part one of the solution should be to tickle fuzzy logic until he provides us both with lots of chocolate

this should give us something constructive to do while waiting for werewolf to re-appear.

of course if DavidK was reading this and de-lurked then he could also try some of the current experiments to see how we are progressing

feline *drops elephant sized hint, and wonders if it will connect*

Well, as for werewolf, I'll see if I can find him and ask him to pop in. Check back here, okay.

Feline, he didn't answer on irc so emailed him to check the thread. I'm going to be out-of-pocket most of the morning, so hope you two get together soon.

starone - I'm going to be out-of-pocket most of the morning, so hope you two get together soon.

feline grapples with this mental image of a starone in my pocket

. . .

make that a mental image of a starone kitten in someone's pocket

as for werewolf, the marathon thread is my next stop
