Monitor envy...

I decided to go ahead and get a new (cheap) monitor and I was wondering what to look for. Mostly I want bigger, but now I see that includes ont only 1024 X 768 but one size even bigger. Both are affordable for me.. Is bigger better? I have seen some in stores that are kind of rounded and the clarity and color seems a little off... what do I check for to avoid that?

Thanks everyone! I have compiled all this onto one turbonote, and tomorrow I will make a call to the gateway people. I am still limited to that credit card, but I know they have a rebuilt section. I won't be able to see what they are talking about, but I will have your information in front of me. Voice to voice, they are a lot nicer than pixel to pixel over the internet (I sure wish I didn't have dialup so I could see what they are talking about though).

LCDs are good because they have low Brightness levels
alot of dark flat spots

Ah well, my new 17 inch, .25 dpi gateway brand (no other choice there) monitor is coming! I was tracking it through UPS and it got stuck in California (so I guess that means I won't get to have it until after the holiday). It is a second day delivery guarentee and it has been in California for at least two!

Thanks for the advice... they were going to send me a .28 dpi and I wouldn't have known to check that. Then I will reformat the other one and sell it if I can.

GM- I know that if the post office doesn't deliever as promised you can get your money back. Maybe UPS does the same thing. Remember, that second day not counting weekends or holidays. I hope you get it Tuesday.

Thanks WOM. I am anxious to get it. I increased the resolution on my monitor to see what 1024 looks like, and now everything kind of looks wrinkled. Also things look a little yellow...

Increasing the resolution should make theing smaller. I've never encountered that set of problems. When I had a 15in I keep it at 800 because 1024 made me squint to read. Even thou I have a 17in I will not go above 1024 for the same reason. I hate getting old, the poor eyes they take a beeting.

I'm the same as you wise. I keep my 17" at 1024x768. I have a 19" too and I set that at 1152x864. Just too hard to see anything after that.

My eyes were the first to go. Everything else is starting to follow them now.

Way to go BoXXi. Enjoy it, I do with mine. I know what you mean motion. The wife's 19in is also set at 1024. Her eye's are going too.

BoXXi! Make sure to activate your virus software first.... I only had my computer up about 3 hours and downloaded that Klez virus because I didn't understand Norton. I had to reformat!

It's here!!!! I thought it would be bigger, but this is real big! Now I can dig into my old computer for goodies!!!!Eveything looks different, I have to make adjustments. I also thought somewhere along the line they would tell me the EXACT cost... I do not have a poker voice, they knew I was excited.

There is this hunk of plastic hanging out the side that kind of worries me.....

Klez is a monster.... at least since it was a brand new computer, it didn't have addresses to mail itself to!
