i decline of this site
Saturday, July 27, 2002 by Carlitus | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Wy i reached this situation?
-I'm not in accordance with some actuaions when some skins/wallpaper are uploaded: for example, just uploading some skins, are immediatelly poor rated. This only can be done by 'moderators'... there's no a person always poor rating new skins.
-I'm not in accordance with newest skinners support on this site. Some skinners has showed me some works, that aren't accepted on WIncustomize, teorically by poor quality. ANd not always the skins have poor quality.
-I'm not in accordance with really democratic criteria selecting Featured skins: not always the skin are the most featured as is showed on top op Home page of WIncustomize. I don't speak about my skins, i speak about ALL authors skins.
-I'm not according with the actuation of some administrators of this site (not only for my last 'problem' (i'm using quotes, do you konw, mr.?)
And last:
-I'm not according with the criteria of this site selcting skinned applications. On this site seems to be only promoted the Stardocks aplications. And also seems to be supported and positivelly commented by administrators the WIncustomize and Stardock collaborators. In this messageboard i readed (one year ago +/-): "this site are intended to supply the disapearance of SKINZ.ORG, but Stardock support this site when the Stardock apps. are preferenced". Well, it seems to be Stardock apps the 'Kings' of this site. There's o reason for this, due to the use of propaganda on this site (included for a author as me that i obtained 70000 downloads on a month), and Stardock can amortize the costs of this site.
Not all my words are negative:
-Thanks to WIncustomize to give me the oportunity of share my skins and works with people of all the planet.
-Thans to T-Man for the help on the Stardock IRC
-Thanks to Martin for support me when i beginned to make skins one year ago.
-Thanks to mr Mormegil to support me, one year ago, and one month ago when i returned.
-Thanks to mr Jafo to trying to help me on 'learning' english and in the case of the rips.
-Thanks to all the people that readed this post and are tried to understand me.
This is my personal opinion and facts, and i not represent any other skinner (or yes?), if someone are offended, he/she must understand that i'm also offended. This not represent my definitive retreat, so i will follow in Wincustomize surelly, but all of yours must understand that i'm now very ennoyed to post more skins on this site.
Be good

I, surelly like most of the skinners, make my skins for my pleasure, and i always try to get no attention to rates (on this site or other sites), but, when you are congratuled by rates/other skinners/etc., you feel like to make more and better skins.
I don't cry requesting best rates (on my last uploads, i have one 4 in a wallp correctly, and on my last icon packs a have 10 rates, correctly), i only mean more respect... for me principally, and for other skinners. I said that i received some works of some person (2 wallpapers). One are very bad, i know, but the other are acceptable. The 2 works are used the Windows logo, and the author have no instant access. I know that recursive wallpapers is a bad designing task, but i apply this on all works around Wincustomize. Maybe a different rating system (1-10 are more easy to rise/fall than 0-100, for example)

The rattings are the problem, not the value

Think about it!
I am very glad to hear from Alexandrie, that it is going to be a change to System ratting to prevent unfair ratings!

1- I don't like it
2- It's alright, I guess
3- I love it
Because, sincerely, I find that I have problems rating between those. When I look at a skin, it always fall in one of those 3 rates. Never will I look at a skin and say "Man, this skin is a 4!".
Anyway, my idea was rejected, so, oh well.

Does the following submission contain ___ (Y/N)
Text:
Gridlines:

...although this won't fix how to judge what gets past the moderators for wallpapers, I suppose.
Well hell, sorry, I tried...that's my quota for constructive thinking for the week.

i quite like this idea, but i think i can see the imidiate objection. if the rating of a wallpaper/skin is to be used to filter down the displayed items (only show items about 6 by default) to *conserve bandwidth* then you want more control than 3 bands.
feline *sigh*
trying to see all sides of this is making my brain hurt

BEFORE anyone releases a tactical nuke over this, please NOTE that this was an example number. i think the actualy number used is 3, and it is editable in your profile. 6 was just the first number i found on the keyboard while writing the above post.

I accept if any skin/wallpaper are previously ratted by admins with high negative votes, when the skin/wall are recursive or uses a image created by another. The creativity must be supported.
I'm yet feeling ridiculous to upload here a wallpaper with WIndows logo and in clear tipography writed WindowsXP
. And my initially intention is to make a sarcastic wallpaper of the infinite nunber Windows based wallpapers. I also used the name of Mac users to define Windows (windoze)
