Apple, and Mac OS X (why?)

I posted this in another topic (Getting Permission from Apple), but i'll post it here just in case
this might sound stupid, as i'm sure hundereds of people have already asked this, but WHY would you want your computer to look like a mac?
the interface is badly designed, unprofessional, annoying, child like, and annoying to use.
why change your computer so it looks like that?
Steve Jobs must be dyslexic or something (hey, so must I if i can't spell dyslexic properly, at least i think it was wrong, i dunno) to make an interface like that, and actually expact people to BUY (which generally means "use hard earned money to pay for") something that looks (and works) like that.
i've used a few Mac skins OSX and normal Mac, and i'd definately have to say the classic looks, and functions better, but it STILL looks like sh!t. it's like comparing Windows XP to Windows 2.0.
In the classic Mac skins i've tried, the close button has been on the left, with either maximise and minimise, or maximise and rollup buttons on the other side
In the OSX skins i've tried, all the buttons are on the left (close, maximise and minimise on the left hand side (why?), besides the rollup button, which is on the left. or the normal buttons are on the right, lacking either a minimise button (replacing it with rollup) or the close button, which has magically found itself on the other side of the screen (AGAIN, why?).
basically, it's retarted, annoying, a waste of time, stupid, etc...
am i the only person that thinks this?
obviously i am, judging by the amount of Object Bar skins on this site that are based on the Mac bar. (again, again, why?)
so can someone else please tell me what's so good about Apple and their toys (i will call them that, because that's basically what they are, not actual programs, or operating systems) so that everyone has to try to copy them?

Why do Macs have the rep of being stable?
Here at work, we have both Macs and PCs, and I'm sorry to say that the Macs crash all the time. Several times a day.
Even the brand new G4 they got recently. Nobody has Mac OSX yet though cause until recently no program they use worked on OSX (Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark).
Other than that, the look of an OS is really just a look. After a while you don't even see it anyway, however pretty is it. So, IMO they're all worth the same as far as aesthetics go. That's what's cool abot Windowblinds, you can change the look of your OS as often as you wish and never get tired of it.

paxx....my guess is that once upon a time, in a galaxy....etc.....when Win95 was around, Macs WERE 'stable'. [relatively].
Now, with the advent of 2000 and XP....the tide has ebbed a tad, if not reversed...

paxx.. mac os9 is plagued by crashes, as you know. this is because it uses shared memory - if one program bites it, pretty much the whole os is coming down.
mac osx on the other hand is more stable than even win xp [in personal experience.] it uses protected memory, and even if apps crash the os won't. it's an entirely re-designed os rather than just an update or new version, and is based on unix. in fact, people who like command lines have very easy access to a nix terminal from within osx.

I used a long time Macs.
Macos9 crashes a lot, the memory usage is scandalous, and lots of times the apps ara monopolizing the CPU usage (bad, very bad). The positive: the interface are the best intuitive (excepting the bar), the use is very fast and if you find any problem you can reach the solution and uninstall the Extension, app, etc. without reinstall all the system.
MacosX is really perfect for home users. Is moore intuitive the macos9, but OSx is very nicest. I prefer the MacosX interface, but with the easy of use of macos9. MacOSX is by far, the most STABLE OS i used (indluding Linux), exceptuating some bugs: If you use a OS service (by graphics, Any disc, etc,) lots of times in one session, the OS loses the service; sometimes is very slowly showing folders and mounting CDROMS (including a silver2002 G4 with 1gb ram).
Windows is poor in usablity and system graphics, but includes moore services than Macs.
The Macs and thir OS are very recommendable for the masses, but there's a very BIG PROBLEM (i can say this for very recent xperience). If it crashes (in my case only the motherboard on a G3) is VERYYY VERYYYYYYYYYY EXPENSIVE, as much i returned to "Intel Power" and the "friendly" WIndoze

migellito, Carlitus, THANK you as you are both correct in your ideas. OS9 has had and still does have it's problems "AS does XP/98/ME/95/2000/NT" when it comes to lockup's and crashing. The old saying "good in, good out" comes to mind. I work for a company that is ON CALL to service LARGE server sites. I work directly for two said sites. One has 3000 stand alones tied into a NT system with 900 Macs out of the 3000. Most of the problems with the Macs are USER faults. Most of the problems with the 2000MSOS computers are Server OS/DB issues. NOW, the other site I get called out to has 1500, and of those, 1050 are Macs, the others are all XP Pro. Macs are all OSX 10.1.3, and I LOVE working at that site... Not much going wrong, just stupid stuff. NOW PLEASE DO NOT KILL me on the board, I HAVE FOUR NOTEBOOKS, three running MS, two XP, one 2000 and just one Mac. I LOVE BOTH and, AND BOTH OS's HAVE A PLACE IN THIS WORLD...... Did you know that more than 70% of all the movies you see are done mostly on the Mac platform? Something to think about.
I JUST LOVE COMPUTERS, ALL COMPUTERS, and YES, I LOVE WB's AND DESKTOP X VERY MUCH...

Where did you get that movie statistic? I am highly sceptic. I've heard before the name of SGI, which seems to make more sense.
As for OS 9, as I said, at work, they crash all the time, and the XP machines never do. I may be user related, but who cares? it still crashes, a good OS should be user-resistant.
I heard great things about OSX, so I won't argue. It's just never used at work because the software we use doesn't support it (or didn't until recently). Nobody wants to load OSX just to go "ooo! aaaa!" and then switch back to OS9 to get some work done.
As far as all OSes have their place in this world, I don't know. I must admit that incompatibility between OSes really make me sweat. I think there should be standard, and they should be compatible, at least as fonts go. I hate incompatibility!

Another Windows and Macintosh post. I know what all have said, and I feel your pain. paxx, look up on google high end movie production companys and see what you find out. I love windows and I also love my mac os. I am easy to please, of EVERYTHING would work correct all the time, I WOULD BE OUT OF WORK.

CGI as used in Babylon 5, as I recall, was on Amiga 3000 systems....[near enough to a CBM64]...
'Personal experience' is a wonderful basis for 'opinions'.....for me, XP is 99.9% STABLE......Win2000 crashes like a dog.....and Macs last approx 3 minutes before they barf.....personal 'experience', and 100% 'factual'.
Of course, to qualify statements....XP sometimes argues with my aggressive assaults on its shell....Win2K suffered terminal driver issues of compatability.....and the only time I ever touched a Mac, it screamed in horror and ran away and hid, claiming it wanted a boot disk......so, yes,...proven statements of 'fact' [which mean precious-little]...

My only question was about the so-called stability of the Mac OS where I can testify I see it crash many times a day. I also aknowledged that OSX is probably better, but I can't speak cause I have ne experience seeing other people work (or not) with it.
But really, I don't care. I am not OSist (racist for OSes).
But I must admit that I wish that either one OS crushes all the others, or that some standard be developped so all computers can work together. I work with Mac artisits all the time, and very often, we have problems. Most of the time, font problems. An artist start somethnig in Flash, he gives it to me to add some interactive programing stuff, then I don't have the same font, or if I have a font with the same name, it's not actually the same font and it f**ks up the artist's layout, etc. Every day stuff for me. Of corse, life is life, but I still wish there was only one OS, and I'd rather it be XP.

The apple OS look I believe is something just different. It is more Eye pleasing to look at. Now macs vs. pc isn't what this really about. the mac os is just more pretty to look at.

Have you reason, paxx, there's no apps for MacOSX. ops sorry, there's lot of apps! Photoshop 7, Freehand 10, Indesign 2. The Adobe's apps works correctly (moore slowly in a recent G4 than my recent P4a). Freehand 10 crashes a lot on MacOSX, and there's no updates! ...where's Quark??? and home 3d apps like animation master and pixels 3d 4???? where??? only in MacOS9.
There's no native professional apps for MacOSX, and you need to pay too much.
