messiah1 Asks You to Help Support Scouting
Thursday, August 23, 2012 by messiah1 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Hello Community! It's been awhile since my last post. Been very busy and a long, long way from home. Does anyone out there remember my son Ethan? (https://forums.wincustomize.com/170219) He's now 8 years old, healthy and strong. While I've been away he has been very active in Cub Scouts. They are starting a new year and with that comes their annual popcorn sales program. Not being there with him, I wanted to try to help out anyway I can so I set up an account online where people can go and order popcorn and have it shipped right to their homes. Any orders online go towards his Scout Rewards and I was hoping to have him be the top seller for his pack this year. That would make him smile I'm sure. I'm told he worked very hard last year walking the neighborhood trying to get as many sales as he could but it didn't turn out too great.
If you feel like supporting Cub Scouts, and maybe helping Ethan become the top seller this year, please take a moment to visit this link and order yourself or your friends/family a tasty treat. And if not, that's okay too. Thanks for your consideration and/or support.
If you can't click on the external link up top, copy and paste this into your browser. On the site, at the right, it should say "Supporting Scout Ethan E."

P.S.
I read the WinCustomize TOS very carefully and didn't see anything that made me believe this was in violation. If a moderator or member believes it is, please let me know as that is not what I'm trying to do. I'm just trying to do something nice for my son that is within my power.

I'm unable to help but I applaud your efforts. I remember the times I had in Cub Scouts, great fun.
Good seeing you again in the forums, M1.

Not bad at about $1.23 a pack! Love buttered popcorn, order place!

Ah crap. Marine-Munkeh popcorn.
How in the hell could I say no?
m1 - Is that supporting Ethan E. ?

Boy, that is your opinion and I'm glad for you that you can express it. However, it is also not a surprise coming from you considering some of your other posts/threads. Instead of being a mature adult and moving on, you post your trite comment and feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you let the Internet know how you feel. Hooray for you!
Here's some advice for you. If you don't have anything useful to say or do that brings value or betterment to the world, then just don't. Sit behind your monitor on your side of the Internet and be content with whatever it is that you do and let the adults talk. Otherwise, you just make yourself look like an ass.

What is tacky about supporting Scouting gmc2? At times we support members here needing help financially, so there is nothing wrong with supporting another good cause too!

So glad to hear that Ethan's doing great.
If I lived in the US, I would defiantly order. Don't think they ship to Norway, somehow

Is there any way that "tacky" comment can be removed from this post? That would be awesome! It just doesn't belong on here.
And hey Steve! How's things going for you? Nice thing supporting the scouts!

Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I may be an ass but I've never been threatened with being banned from the site for my remarks. Which, I believe you have. So, you can get off your high horse at any time.
Many of us have children of school age (mine's 11) that are involved with activities that have fundraising events. For myself, seeking donations for my child's activities from members of the site is crossing a line and therefore, for me, would be tacky and inappropriate. Obviously you don't feel that way, and that's understandable, but for me you crossed a line and here we are.

And many of us feel a bit protective of a kid whose dad is off protecting us.

and that would have been good to mention in the OP, ya think.
Messiah, it doesn't change my thought about the situation but if I had of known your were serving our country abroad, I would have rather just bit my lip and ignored it. I do apologize, I respect you and the service for us that you are providing.

My horse certainly isn't high there killer. Anyone who knows me could tell you that. I realize that a lot of people have grade school kids that are fundraising. I dish out quite a bit of money to these types of things myself. I've got four kids, so just them selling is a lot. Add in family and friends too...I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. I just asked this community if they felt like helping a boy out, then please help out. If not, that's cool too. Either way, no big deal. The Cub Scouts will still be around, Ethan will still be a happy, well adjusted young man, and I'll still be happy and proud to call him my son.
*It took me a bit to type this up, so it shows up after gmc2's last post, which wasn't there when I started. I will take the advice of a friend and bury the hatchet here.

I can't see any problem with it....
...except the popcorn would be mighty stale if I ordered some....
