Icons for sale?

I have an idea (don't laugh...it happens, sometimes). As was mentioned in another thread, why don't you provide the ability for users to purchase 'custom' icons to be used in the message boards. As well as alleviating some(a fraction) of the bandwidth issues, this might bring in a little extra income to a site that deserves it - not to mention that this would allow us non-priveleged (That one is aimed directly at Alexandrie) users a level of personalization. I would be happy to donate/pay a few bucks for the feature. Anyone have thoughts on this? Admins?

I don't see that it would clutter up anything. Why not replace the current 'powered by skin browser' icon with a user selected one (and default it to the 'just fine' icon for those who don't use the feature). Not too complicated and wouldn't add any clutter at all (just replace existing clutter
)

I never said anything about clutter...
That's not a bad idea Peff, replacing the subscriber icon. We're already talking about some different ideas, maybe something will happen, maybe not... There will undoubtedly be a lot of discussion about this, and eventually a decision will be made. At that point, we'll all know if there will be more icons... or not...

Wouldn't work. Only interesting for dedicated visitors. I think that user base is too small to make an impact.
