Surfing, picked up something strange
.adserver.com.

I'd appreciate any help I can get with this.
So..One day I was surfing clothing sites, regular sites like Walmart, Just my size, etc, nothing kinky. I suppose it popped up while I was surfing, but I did not pay attention. Later I noticed it popped up at random several times a day. It opens a new window, and at first it says .adserver.com. (I added the periods to keep it from being a real link) Then it morphs into another site, once it was a search engine. I usually close it when it pops up, so I don't know what other sites it morphs into. What I need to know is, what do I do to block this site? I am a relative beginner when it comes to the inner workings of my pc, so be gentle with me. ( I see no connection with what pages I have open and when it pops up, but I know it does when I use Google search)
Thank you in advance.

I have Windows 7 and IE8, but I use Chrome for my main browser. I tried IE and it did not pop on there. I think I might try uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling. Do you think that might help?

I think what might help is you un-install Chrome and install IE9 (how the hell did you even manage to get 8 on there?).

I will definitely do that. Thank you for the help. Also, would you tell me which programs in the start ups I do not need? I don't want to turn off something important!

Create a 'Restore Point'
In msconfig;
un-check:
Java
NVIDIA
Anything related to HP
Re-boot on prompt
Un-install:
PC Doctor
Google update
Re-boot
....and yes, in google search you can pick up a virus if you click on a nefarious link. Google has no mechanism in place to disseminate the good from the bad.
