Successfully installed Ubuntu 12.04
Now what do I do?

Figured out how to get FF up and running, I think. But now I'm trying to figure out why when I click on a folder it fails to open.

Don't take any notice of that pair, Uvah, with a bit of persistence you'll pick it up soon enough.
On the Ubuntu home page there is a fairly comprehensive Q&A section, or forums for answers to less common problems.

Just Kidding Uvah.
It´s probably an insanly good idea to use that OS when skinning for Windows.

Ubuntu sucks. Why would you torment yourself? Operating systems are supposed to make life easier not stressful. Sure a wimpy computer may need help to run better, and its called a processor and ram upgrade!. Sorry , but all that is required to use ub seems like a step back to dos. My opinion , but still wish you luck with it. How about windows 98, It runs fast!LOL

There are times when I do know what I'm doing, not very often but it does happen. I want to learn Ubuntu is all. If I don't have my hands on I ain't learnin' shit. So...that said.

I installed MacPup 528 on a very old Dell laptop (only 256mb RAM) and it runs great. The hardest thing for me (should not be an issue with ubuntu) was getting the wireless USB adapter to work. Take it all in small steps. A few things I installed required a reinstall of the OS but MacPup installs very quickly.
Firefox and Flash have been my biggest issues. Opera runs great on it. I managed to get Rainlendar installed as well as Dropbox. Check out Portable Linux Apps for a bunch of stuff. I found portable versions of apps that wouldn't install or run correctly otherwise.
DA has some nice 'skins' for Ubuntu as well, when you start customizing everything.
