WinStyle Object Desktop vs. WindowBlinds Object Desktop

What's the difference between WinStyle Object Desktop and WindowBlinds Object Desktop? I know that you can get WindowBlinds in WinStyle, but what about the other way around? Does one offer more benefits than the other, or does one work better than the other?

Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated.

WinStyles can control any of the Object Desktop components such as WindowBlinds.

So are you saying that WinStyles is better than WindowBlinds? Or that WinStyles is a suite of apps that includes WindowBlinds? Or am I just confusing things?

Object Desktop is the suite. WindowBlinds is a component of that suite that skins windows. WinStyles is another component that brings some of the others together (WB, ObjectBar, DesktopX, Iconpackager, etc) so that people can create consistent "styles" using more than one component at once.

Thanks for the replies... and I think understand. But maybe I should just ask a more pointed question:

Which one would you recommend I buy, or should I buy both?

Let me support my question a little...

I'm an experienced designer who loves to tweak the UI of almost anything that I can. I've designed skins and a myriad of user interfaces and sites. Essentially I'm trying to decide on the application, or suite of applications, that would allow me the most flexibility to tweak my Windows UI and not be terribly complicated to use. I don't mind if it requires a steep learning curve, so long as the end benefits are worth it. And in the future, I hope to share my creations.

Hopefully that best describes my situation...

I would recommend buying the full Object Desktop. This will allow the most flexablity in accomplishing your goal.

WindowBlinds applies skins to the Windows GUI. WinStyles is a program manager for the most popular skinning progs. It's really a new style of theme manager. If you have a matching set of WindowBlinds, Winamp, and ICQ Plus skins, for example, WinStyles will package them for you so it's easier for you to switch between looks for your computer, as well as making it much easier to distribute them to others.

WinStyles is just a front-end for choosing which themes to use with the various applications, WindowBlinds being one of those applications. On its own, WinStyles doesn't actually skin anything, it's WindowBlinds that you need to skin the Windows UI. Both are available of components of Object Desktop, which also includes a range of other Stardock products and constant updates for those products.

Hopefully I've said it a little clearer than the rest.
