Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Sunday, January 27, 2002 by Elfkura | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Doreen, you dont know the half of it.

feline is desperatly waiting for the menapause to stop
feline is also fed up with time of the month

i am not even old enough to be menapusal either, which just adds insult to injury.

feline just wants to lie in a dark corner, curl up tight, and each chocolate and hug self until it all goes away

so of course instead i am stuck at work, trying to work out why some nastly little program i fixed two weeks ago is still going wrong some of the time

feline may have to kill this computer soon
feline *sigh*

feline! are you a girl or a guy??? I'm serious you are serously confusing me...

and don't kill your machine, have mercy on it, they have that time of the month too (unless of course it's male machine, most my machines are males) hehe

Doreen. I thought Feline explained this already. Physically, he is male. Mentally, male/female depending on what state of mind Feline is in. The mental side supersedes the physical side. In a nutshell, Feline is Feline. The male/female definitions do not apply.

You would think that most machines are males, but they really aren't. I am convinced that my support box is female, and she's a real bitch. My other machine is female when booted to ME and male when booted to 2000. Our office printer, Sophie, is definitely female. You try to overwork her, or tell her she has a deadline, and she'll throw a fit.

i wonder if the fact that i had to kill a male for being unbelevably stupid on a day like this would be acceptable as a defence in cort.

problem: all the things in the same column of the report are lined up with each other
answer: that is because they are in the same column
problem: i know that, but i want the first one moved over
answer: but you already know that the columns can be reordered, so how will you know what is what?

Doreen, to be quite honest i gave up trying to work out what gender i am years ago.

put it this way:
* people think my mind is female
* i have just as many problems with time of the month as my sisters, and have for years. i just dont loose blood
* i have been suffering with hot flushes for at least 20 years, and i am not yet 30.

at some point you just have to accept that plumbing isnt the end all and be all of it.

as for my machine, about one every 20 minutes it will stop working TOTALY for about 1 minute. you can move the mouse pointer, but that is it. also i have to reboot one or twice a day on average.

oh, and now i am looking to see if the latest excel crash corrupted the last 3 weeks of solid work again!

you would think given the vibes i must be giving off it would know not to push me today, therefor it must be a standard male. no one else i know can be so totaly obvivious to the blindingly obvious

Doree, the maze is still on going.

basically i am trying to write a program to translate totaly gobblygook into teckno-bable, and back again.

of course, i dont actually have a dictionary or proper definition for either language.

i am trying to perfectly emulate some other translator without knowing how it works. the problem with this is that it is actually two translators chained together, so i am simply skipping the middle stage. this should help, but it doesnt seem that way at the moment.

it would help if the old program would translate on demand, but it wont. unless i give it valid input, it wont do anything. however i dont know what valid input looks like most of the time.

talk about some mad n dimentional maze. the words dont even have constant meanings.

feline *rude sound*

on the "plus" side i do have an example of one language. only thing is it is a 10meg plane text file, with thousands of different examples all jammed together. doing regular expressions on a 10 meg file isnt recormended, it is SLOW

feline wants a cuddle, and for the people around me to go away and leave me in peace

JavaBrain, its nice to see you are back again. it feels like you have been gone for ages.

perhaps your office printer just needs some understanding, and to feel appreatiated?

hmmm well I dunno if I am on the same wavepath as you feline (since you always confuse the hell out of me) hehe

but if your talking about having one program translate the outcome into a diff lingo hit up the main dev?

that's what I did, I said fawgetabowdit I ain't sitting at this machine for a month fighting it.

I went straight to the source and asked the main devs to please please please help me! of course the guys said "Doreen why are you the only one in the County that bugs the hell out of us always looking for stuff no one else does!"
my reply "Cuz I'm different and I need it" of course batting my eyes (girls must use what advantages God gives them)

and now the program I run translates into 7 diff lingos!

I'm so Blessed and Spoiled I cannot stand it sometimes... hehe (but also thankful)

Feline, i didn't actually leave. I was lurking around, but just too busy to post. Work gets in the way every now and then

JavaBrain feels happy that I was missed, though!

Doreen - hmmm well I dunno if I am on the same wavepath as you feline (since you always confuse the hell out of me) hehe

feline *innocent expression No. 34*
i dont try to confuse you, but the *expression* on your posts is just so cute i cannot help but be happy that it happens.

Doreen - but if your talking about having one program translate the outcome into a diff lingo hit up the main dev?

feline ***sigh***
you have the idea spot on.
i have found that when i try batting my eyes at people they tend to get very worried and then run away.

i did follow your example of using the gifts god gave girls though. only thing was this body has the mental benifits without the cleavage. upshot is that i am the main and only developer working on this. so it is me or no one.

Doreen - I'm so Blessed and Spoiled I cannot stand it sometimes... hehe (but also thankful)

nothing wrong with being spoiled now and then

feline thinks this is suspicious

however, i have a cunning plan
now that you are back, i could curl up on your lap. this will stop you running off again, and i can hopefully get fed bits of chocolate and cuddled now and then. a win - win solution

JavaBrain feels happy that I was missed, though!

feline *hugs* the returning JavaBrain

Feline, if you were anywhere around me, you could find bits of chocolate. I'm known to be messy, and there is a joke about me wearing clothes that match my lunch so that whatever I spill on myself won't show up.
