This is how you use LogonStudio......
Wednesday, January 23, 2002 by BoXXi | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
1. If the file is zipped up, double click it to start WinZip.
2.hit "Extract", and in the next menu find C:\Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio. Now click "Unzip".
3. Close WinZip, and go to the folder that you just unzipped to..(C:\Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio
4. In that folder you should now see the .logonxp file that you downloaded. (It's usually a white rectangle with an X in the middle.)
5. Double click the .logonxp file. This should automatically open the LogonStudio program and your new logon screen will be in the list. Highlight it, (if it isn't already highlighted) and click apply.
6. If your new logon is NOT listed, hit "Refresh List" (which is immediately below the list) and hit "Apply".
7. If it still doesn't work after following these instructions, don't write to me!!
This method works perfectly for me, and I have tried to explain it as simply as possible. I hope it works for YOU too.
Good Luck!

You can still use winzip with XP but it's not necessary, Since XP will do both on it's own along with treating a zip file as a folder for the most part.

Similarly, when one uploads a logon, it should be a .logonxp file they're uploading.

I have tried to upload a .logonXP file and not a .zip, but it rejected! So still, I have to upload the logons in .zip file format.

Go to Control Panel, select User Accounts, select Change The Way Users Log On Or Off. Make sure that both Use the Welcome Screen and Use Fast User Switching are selected.

If a person is gonna use a .logon file they will I expect have XP which for the normal person eliminates the need for Winzip since XP can zip and unzip without winzip.
so without winzip the directions would be:
1. If the file has a .zip extention right click on it and choose Extract All.
2. click next then click browse: Browse to C:\Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio
3.click next and then finish ( be sure to leave "show extracted files" checked)
4. a new explorer window will open up showing the file that you just extracted.
