New versions

Friday, November 16, 2001 by CaptLT | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Should the new versions of WinBlinds, ObjectBar, DesktopX etc. always be installed as an upgrade or should the older versions be uninstalled first? Seems that these version steps almost always act a bit before thay start to work ok. Might be my puter though...running Win2k workstation.
But...all in all...great products! Thanks

You can uninstall then, but it is not nessessary most of the time. If you stick to the released versions you "Should" not have any problems.... but the Beta's and Alpha's will be exactly that, Beta's and Alpha's. Personnaly I never uninstall the previous verions first.

Hum... I was wondering about that. I always uninstall first. What happens in Component Manager if you don't uninstall the previous version? Do you end up with a bunch of version saying "Installed"? Can you delete a program that is tagged as installed?
Just something I always ask myself every time I update to the latest version of Windowblinds or others.

Paxx....currently, on this XP drive, I have RC1, RC2 and WB3 all 'installed'.....as I didn't remove them, just installed over....and no problems doing it that way....
