WindowBlinds application compatibility issues
Tuesday, January 17, 2012 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: WindowBlinds
It has come to our attention that some people may have had issues with some apps and WB and opted not to tell anyone about it.
Obviously we would like to know about them so we can resolve the issues.
If you have had an issue with an app caused by being skinned by WB, please post the following information in this thread:
1) The app name
2) The OS you are using
3) The theme you are using
4) The problem you have encountered
5) If you did report it to support a ticket number would help.
If the issue is visual a screenshot would help and where the app is more unusual we would like to know where we may be able to obtain a trial or demo version of it from.
Please note that we are not looking for bug reports on making skins here. This is specifically for application issues.

1: Yahoo Messenger
2: Win7/64
3: Any,
4: Some pictures will help.
This is Yahoo Messenger with no WB, note the Aero frames and only the interior of the window is skinned by Yahoo.

This is Yahoo on startup with WB applied. Note the frame/titlebar is missing on the main window and the chat window is skinned in classic.

This is how messenger looks with WB applied after you open messenger preferences and reapply a skin. This is also how YM looks if Windows Classic is applied by WB. Note the frame is skinned by the yahoo app itself as well as the interior of the window.

YM used to load fully skinned as in image#3 until about two WB updates ago. There have also been one or two YM updates in that time, so I can't entirely blame either app. No amount of excluding that I have tried will make YM launch skinned correctly.
5: Not reported

As can be seen in Wiz's images, I can confirm his report, I tried the same things on my rig and got the same results. Does applying the Mircosoft Aero skin via WB Config actually disable WB? Can it be the services for WB (still running in task manager) that are helping to cause this? I ask because YM works correctly with Classic loaded via WB config.

1: It hasn't been doing it very long.
2: The work-around was easy to do.
3: I was hoping an update from YM or WB would fix it.
4: I was too lazy to do it.
Sorry excuses, I know. Better feedback gets better software.
It was mentioned in the forums here, but I failed to give any real details.

I didn't report it because there are so many whiney threads I was afraid I'd be classified as a whiner.
I do think it has been addressed, just not as in depth as this.
I figured it was a Yahoo thang, not a WB thang.

I have to say it looks nicer in classic than in Aero.
We will look into why it is unhappy as WB should detect the use of custom titlebars and auto exclude.

I agree, the Aero frame just doesn't look right. Fortunately, I rarely have WB unloaded. (only for this ss, in fact)
Thanks for looking into it.

So basically WB causes these 2 buttons to resize with the form and not stay at the bottom like they should.
It happens on whichever WB I apply and classic looks really ugly. Although Aero doesn't look as bad the only problem with that is if i set per application setting for it and define Aero colours as the skin the titlebars don't skin and the rest of the app is windows classic like Wizards 2nd screenshot no titlebars.

1) The app name
Total Commander 8, 64 bit
2) The OS you are using
Vista
3) The theme you are using
Any non-Aero
4) The problem you have encountered

5) If you did report it to support a ticket number would help.
Nah, the 32 bit ver is not affected, so I use that untill this issue may be fixed.

Total commander is already fixed internally.

Yahoo IM should now work as it used to. I believe the issue was a change on their side rather than a WB one.

Hooray! Is there a WB update in the store then?
I suspected Yahoo, as the newest version made major changes, tabbed chat windows being one of them.

The uTorrent issue appears to be a bug in their window sizing code, but I have worked around it for the next WB build.

Not yet no. A post saying it is up will appear on the forums when it is up.
