Want to chat with each other?
IRC is the answwer!
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 by ZubaZ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Stardock has, for years, has maintained an IRC server. IRC is the granddaddy of modern chat systems. It's old . . but it works and we use it. You can too.
There are many IRC clients out there.
The easiest might be mibbit.com because it has a web-based client (http://cbe002.chat.mibbit.com/). You could use mIRC or Pidgin or Trillian or any number of others too. Heck, even my HP Touchpad running WebOS has a client ()
Once you pick your IRC client it's time to join the fun! Here's what you'll do:
- Find where the client asks for the server and enter the following
/server irc.stardock.com - Once connected to the server (when all the text stops scrolling), you join the WinCustomize chat room by typing this:
/join #WinCustomize
There's an older (but still accurate) article on the WinCustomize wiki about usign IRC. You can read it here: http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/MIRC:_Chatting_on_Stardock_IRC
See you around!

Either the OP is really Zubaz, or the typing skills of the ordinary spammer from foreign lands has dropped. ![]()
It's Zubaz.

I used to hang out a lot at #wincustomize and #stardock. Hell, I even had a place on the stats ![]()
Kinda lost interest when a lot of people I used to chat with dropped out...... Maybe I should install an IRC client again?

Last time I was in chat I got kicked by Zubaz...

I didn't use it often, but Impulse had an IRC client built in. Now that Impulse is gone, are there any plane to put one in the new updater?
If not, is the one you recommend easy to use? I've tried mIRC and Pidgeon and couldn't get them to connect.

Could be fun getting some 'action' back on IRC again.
It's been rather dead-ish the past years after the gamers entered and killed all the fun......
(Much like the forum cross-posting is doing to the forum)
Some of the/us old regulars are still live on #Stardock incl most active moderators.
Jafo and I are online there round the clock, apart from the weekends where Jafo's 'all alone' during US night time.
So if anyone's bored and/or up for a close-up chat with either of us, just join in. ![]()
We don't bite.
Don't be worried if no one greets you at first. We're not that used to any skinners comes in for a chat, anymore.... ![]()

If I didn't know you were a Stardock employee, I might think this was spam.
