Want to chat with each other?
IRC is the answwer!
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 by ZubaZ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Stardock has, for years, has maintained an IRC server. IRC is the granddaddy of modern chat systems. It's old . . but it works and we use it. You can too.
There are many IRC clients out there.
The easiest might be mibbit.com because it has a web-based client (http://cbe002.chat.mibbit.com/). You could use mIRC or Pidgin or Trillian or any number of others too. Heck, even my HP Touchpad running WebOS has a client ()
Once you pick your IRC client it's time to join the fun! Here's what you'll do:
- Find where the client asks for the server and enter the following
/server irc.stardock.com - Once connected to the server (when all the text stops scrolling), you join the WinCustomize chat room by typing this:
/join #WinCustomize
There's an older (but still accurate) article on the WinCustomize wiki about usign IRC. You can read it here: http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/MIRC:_Chatting_on_Stardock_IRC
See you around!

There's a built in chat client in Impulse.

What's an Impulse?
Impulse is dead, long live SDC! (2)
Seriously though, I just dumped Impulse/GameStop last month and I had no replacement for the IRC client, so thanks, ZubaZ!

If you use more than one chat client (Messenger Live, Yahoo, Google) then Trillian (free) is a possible choice.

Nope, just Yahoo, so Mibbit is perfect for me. Nothing to install.

ZubaZ is in the house again.
Let's talk about all the people that are not there badly and see how long it takes for them to show up.

Let us all speak of teh people that are not present in a manner that reflects poorly on some aspect of said people.

-sigh-
Let us go to the #wincustomize or #stardock channels on the IRC server irc.stardock.com and speak of teh people that are not present in a manner that reflects poorly on some aspect of said people.
(Aslo, my mother bought a farm after she did a three year tour in Iraq so combat boots makes sense and if you smelled my father's natural scents, you'd be happy about his elderberry cologne.)

OK...let's be sure about this...which people exactly?
The 'teh' people or the 'said' people?
[I'd hate to be a nuisance and reference the wrong ones]....![]()

I used to be on IRC all the time, I loved talking with my friends in there, then someone insulted me in the most terrible way imaginable, and nothing happened to him at all. I never go in now.......

Not knowing the situation, I'll just propose the possibility of a fresh start? The more, the merrier and all that. No pressure.
Technically, he's been tracking them the whole time, there just wasn't much substance in the numbers for a while.
