A WB issue

Thursday, October 20, 2011 by JuniorCrooks | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

This just began to happen to me and it seems to be localized to this blind only. names have vanished in the start menu as well as the max button. I am hoping someone can shed some light on it.

I just unloaded WB and after reapplying it appears to be fine.

I have seen this happen with the TURN-OFF WB by Jetsetter.  http://jetsetter.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=48#/d1t1btd

No, I don't think so.  I've the same issue with e few WB's.

It's has been occurring since the latest update to WB  Unloading and reloading WB does not fix the issue... the programs previously listed have vanished.  Perhaps reverting back to the previous version is the answer until this is resolved.

Unloading windowblinds worked for me or I should say temporarily worked. I have not rebooted yet which is when I noticed the problem occurred last time. Also starkers I have not installed the update. I am still using 7.2.

I will do a reboot soon and let you know.

No not fixed. I restarted the computer and the problems persist. Also not as localized to the one blind as I initially thought.

No, it's not fixed!  Still there and not isolated to one blind.  I've manually re-added my shortcuts, and they stick after reboots... providing I don't make any skin changes in WB.

Anyway, it's not that big a deal for me right now.  Apart from the workaround of adding my frequently used shortcuts, I've been preoccupied with other things and it's not really noticed.  In fact, if you hadn't mentioned it I may very well have ignored it and kept on keeping on... er, doing other stuff.

BTW, 'tis good ter see ya back on the boards.

Thanks starkers. have you installed the new 7.3 version just released? I did not install the previous 7.3 because off all the problems but I did install the new one and everything is working fine so far, even after reboots.

Before mine took an unexpected trip WB 7.3 was working just fine. I dunno why considering all the problems I'm seeing with it.

Folks, I'd like to alert Neil to this thread... those already posted and those to come: Please Copy-Paste your "About Windowblinds" from the WB Config window. He needs info to solve the problem. Also please post if problem is with UIS 0,1,2 skins.

Thanks.

Everyone needs to upgrade to the latest release to see if the problem goes away first. Stardock would not bother fixing the older version of 7.2 I would imagine.

As I already said I installed the latest release of 7.3 and it is working fine for me. The problems this thread was about were with 7.2 but updating to 7.3 fixed those problems.

Yes, I just did that and the issue has gone away.  I uninstalled the previous version first, however, then updated to the latest version via Impulse, which has become a pain in the arse since it changed hands, BTW.

Yeah, it went through all the motions of archiving and downloading, etc, but it hung [ for what seemed like forever] in the 'Installing Update' phase.  After about an hour I got tired of waiting and closed Impulse, which stated that the installation was incomplete and the program would likely not function.  I did a reboot, but before I could start Impulse to install WB, and get this, after being told it had not installed, the WB interface was on screen and the program was/is fully functional.  Hmm, go figure.

I started having some issues with repainting that I took as memory issues and rebooted, ran malware, virus scan and disk clean up with another reboot. seems to be working fine now except for the reoccurring and annoying issue where it has to paint twice to paint the maximum and uis2 frames.

the problem before I did all this that I was getting classic frames and would not repaint to the WB. I had downloaded a blind that was made for 7.3.

questions:

why would I need to upgrade to fix a problem that wasn't there before?

does downloading a skin made with 7.3 corrupt, change or modify existing files and/or settings for skins made with 7.2?

You would need to upgrade to 7.3 because Stardock is not going to bother to fix any issues anyone has with 7.2 is all I am saying gmc2. Even if they develop for no apparent reason.

Seems Wb has issues with Tabs lately. Not in all skins, but observed in Revolver and Corporate since 7.3.

I just checked corporate and I see no issues at all here with tabs.

Try deleting *.WB4/*.WB64 from your skin folders and reapplying the skins.
