Might be a good idea to remove this update before a bunch of people install it this weekend?

I wish someone would make up there mind on Impulse. I keep it for the games, but this crap is getting so annoying, I'm ready to dump the games and Impulse.

*JUst tried to update with Impulse and STILL getting the message my registration is not valid. It will not update it and shows my current registraion which I purchased just a few weeks ago. GGGggrrrr!

I updated from the download link. Windowblinds was running Jakuta while I ran the update. System wanted a reboot after update.
Things seem to be working right for me so far. I've tried a couple different blinds too.

I don't get it. Life treats me backwards then most, (does that make sense?) I use to have issues with various software and when I mentioned it in the forums people thought I had hash brownies for breakfast. I installed the update and my WB could not be working any smoother. Go figure.

DC, if you'll go to the website of your monitor maker, and get drivers for your monitors, install them, you'll see the info in WB Config. Also, you'll get updates via windows update for your monitors too.

Yes, the 1 gig graphics card. Seems to do what I need it to very well.

You're using generic microsoft monitor drivers.

thanks RedneckDude for the info.. I tried to install the Drivers but couldn't so I called Samsung and they said I couldn't because my PC did not need them. that sucks cause I want it to say Samsung SyncMaster 2233SW and not (Generic PnP Monitor)

UPDATE. it's BAD very very BAD

my reply on # 34 is NO go after I came home and started my PC.  that update screwed my PC up ..

messed up all my Stardock apps had to run down all the reg entries to remove all stardock app cause a lot of them would not find the uninstaller..

so now I have to reinstall them ...  REMOVE THAT BETA UPDATE BEFORE YOU MESS UP OTHERS PC"S

I did not read all the replies but could my success with the update be attributed to a fresh install. I downloaded on a clean system with no previous WB installs. So far I have not had any problems.

I am not suggesting to reformat your drives. I am simply asking if perhaps my new install is the reason why I have not experienced the problems others have.

Hi,

I tried the new WIndowBlinds beta that is up for us at our paid download link but it applies themes ok untill reboot then nothing. Reboots to no theme and will not apply new ones. If I uninstall and reinstall it works again the first time but after reboot it craps out again. WB icon never was in the system tray either at any time. Going to post to terch support too. I uninstalled it and reverted back to the production release but then even that was all screwed up. I recently restored Windows 7 from scratch and Luckily I did a system backup JUST before trying the beta and it was not untill I restored that and reinstalled the production version that everything worked ok. It seems very VERY hit or miss if this beta works correctly. Of course it is a beta so.... Well I am going to stick with the production version for now and monitor this post carefully as well as any new versions they post for us to try. As long as I do a system backup before I try any new beta versions I don't mind trying them. Let's hope we have a good working new release soon.

If anyone needs any info that will help with the bugs let me know and I will try to go into more detail about my experience.

This is the about of the beta when I had it on.

Joe -

Some people reported earlier in the thread that if they switched to Aero from classic (from within WB after reboot), then to some other skin, WB would work.  Presumably, YMMV.

For those who are having issues with it working after a reboot but not after a logout can you answer the following two questions please.

1) Which OS are you on (32 or 64 bit Vista/7)

2) Is your machine set to autologin on reboot?

3) Does a theme reapply by going to classic and then to a WB theme work after the failed skinning at login?

This version of WB has some changes to how WB starts up for forwards compatibility and it may be this is not working quite right in certain edge cases.

For anyone who finds it simply does not work at all could you also answer the above questions and also confirm that the WB about box does not indicate any problems.

ok I did the update (WindowBlinds720d_beta_setup.exe [v7.20d]) from the StarDock site
WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.3 (build 306 - Windows 7 Edition) - 64 bit OS  that's weird  that 720d beta [v7.20d] is 7.3 (build 306

as for it changing the skin It did not do that so that is good to see

as for the text well it fixed it SOME WHAT ?  it's not invisible any more EX. like when I RC to rename something it is now just some what faded out but I can see it and read it ... and now I can get the check removed form the Explorer Background from WB interface ...   ya ya that's damn grate..

As for the others I don't know what to do so I can;t say one way or the other

Improved compatibility with DisplayFusion
DirectoryOpus tweaks
UIS0 Explorer background fix
Improved forward compatibility
Various tweaks and fixes
so I say use the site to update well it worked on this end anyway

EDIT ok I just installed a new WB skin (Prussian Slate) linked to give props

to report on the text well it is now Crystal clear even when RC to rename ..

It might of had something to do with the text being faded after the update do to I had this WB (Tinted) (linked to give props) applied as it was made to have the Explorer Background on, on default and that could of had  some effect on the text .. before update text was invisible after it was just faded... with (Prussian Slate) applied works as it should

I think you may have misunderstood the list of updates.

It says UIS0 explorer background fix.  This is specific to UIS0 skins where some backgrounds would turn funny colours.

My shutdown button is messed up - some weird green colours. It clears on mouseover.

Is that with all skins or just certain skins?  If so which skins are they?

Is there a changelog we can view? I wonder about this:

"Improved compatibility with DisplayFusion"

What was changed?

UIS0 skins now skin the DisplayFusion taskbar and there are internal changes to support DisplayFusion using the WB skin start button once they make some changes to support it.

I was running Digital Glow on Win7 Ultimate/64 and had this issue also. I don't have the beta installed at the moment to try others. Condition #2 in post 53 applies in my case. If you'd like I can reinstall the beta and report back in this thread.

3) Does a theme reapply by going to classic and then to a WB theme work after the failed skinning at login?        The only theme I could get to apply was Aero but reverted to classic on each reboot or shut down. Have numerous WB skins but could not get any to apply. WB was not running after shut down or reboot. Starting it manually did not alleviate the theme not applying.

This version of WB has some changes to how WB starts up for forwards compatibility and it may be this is not working quite right in certain edge cases.
