OK I am not usually a show off but I am as happy as a kid in a candy store with my new Milwaukee tools. Part of my job is building decks with my uncle and I had been using Hitachi tools. I decided it was time to invest in quality so I got this set. The only thing is in spite my uncle having his own tools he likes to use mine. I guess he will just have to continue using the Hitachi stuff because this is mine!

I was looking to buy another house for rental income but practically stole this which includes building, lot, ALL equipment, ALL fixtures 'as is' plus two one bedroom apartments and a trailer rental on the property. Everything's rented and the bar's leased until 01/12 after which, well, if the earning potential looks right (and from what I've seen it pretty much stays full), I may just quit my day job....

Now I am extremely jealous. Some people buy power tools and some people buy a bar. Going to be hard to top that nav.

"Buying a Bar" always sounds 'better' than "buying a farm"....

Around these parts (central Illinois) bars are making money, farming isn't. It's all about what the grain is used for and by whom.
I haven't drank since 1991 and I have a brown thumb, my air plant died and my silk flowers wilted, so bars and farming are out for me.
P.S. Nice set of tools, JC. Much more reliable than the Makita junk I've had to replace over and over. (and don't even get me started about Sears Craftsman.)

Never be jealous of anybody, Junior. Most of these folks you see with 'stuff' don't 'own' a damn thing, they're just 'renting' from a mortgage or finance company. So whether you have a little or a lot, long as it's YOUR name on the paperwork, title, deed, reciept, etc., that's all that matters.
Careful there, John, you don't strike me as the Harley riding, pickup truck driving type, bro.... 
Had a farm before (GA), raised a few cows, some corn and tobacco but considering the time and work involved (especially after the Mexicans started charging more), didn't make much off of it. I still live out in the country but now I just have a big ole yard, medium size house and a little ole garden to tend to.

I rarely ever drink myself, I don't smoke and drunks get on my nerves quick so it probably wouldn't be a good fit anyway. The couple leasing it now loves it (and their customers love them), they're responsible for any upkeep/maintenance/damage caused by patrons, any legal liability for 'over' service, under age, permits, etc. and the renters seem happy so long as I get paid my due every month, I reckon it's a win-win situation. Still, I'm not allergic to making money and there's a HUGE markup on beer, overpriced frozen junk food, cigarettes, pool tables, games, juke box, etc.

Soooo, If you've worked hard, saved your pennies and maintained a good credit rating, with property prices plunging 60%, 70%, 80% (U.S....don't know about the rest of the world) from forclosures and 'motivated' sellers and 3-4% loans, if there was EVER a prime time to buy a home, property, etc., THIS is it but it won't last forever....

... because the way things are going downhill economically, you won't be able to give property away.... nobody will have the cash for deed transfer costs/associated taxes, etc.
The bubble HAS burst worldwide.... just not all the air has escaped yet.
But when it does.... the 30's will seem like a picnic in comparison.... and very few will be drinking beer... if anyone's still making it.
So, make hay while the sun shines, right?
