Product Registrations and You!

How to get the Stardock software you paid for.

Monday, June 27, 2011 by Rosco_P | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Greetings, friends!

We've been getting a lot of questions about how to download and install your Stardock software purchases from both the past and present (and future, too, I guess).  Well, here's the skinny on that.  Get it?  'Skin'ny?  *sigh*

Anyway, at the moment we are in a transition period.  Specifically, we are transitioning away from Impulse being your main download and update method.  Going forward, you can access all of your registrations and download links for Stardock software by logging in here:

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

This will give you a list of everything that is on your account, along with your serial numbers and installer download links.  That's right, download links directly to the latest stable version of the software.  Let's all pause to let that sink in.

...

Ok, then.  Each application should prompt for activation the first time, just type your email address, and copy/paste from the page into the window, and you should be all set.

As always, keep in mind that trial versions of our software are not upgradable to the full versions by entering a product key, and they must be uninstalled and the PC rebooted before installing the full version of any program.

Common issues:

"I don't see [program name] listed, what happened to it?"

If you have registrations on more than one email address, you'll need to get them on the same account.  If you have access to both email addresses, you can merge them together here:

https://www.stardock.com/support/registrations/

If you don't have access to both, send an email to [email protected] with an order or serial number, or billing address for verification, and we'll merge them together for you.

"I just renewed my Object Desktop subscription, and Impulse still says it's expired!"

Because Impulse is now owned by Gamestop, your renewal only affects the Stardock side of things, so Impulse can't know that you've renewed.  You will need to use the new download page to access the software.

"What about my games?"

If you've purchased any Stardock gaming titles (GalCivII, Sins, Demigod, Elemental), those will still be handled through Impulse.  This site is for non-gaming software only.

"What about [problem that I haven't thought of yet]?"

Either post it here, or email [email protected] for assistance.  If you're posting here, try to avoid posting things like serial numbers or personal email addresses.

Whether it works on all systems or not is not the issue.  MyColors is not used anymore, but the links are still available.

Question.....it appears that all the MyColors themes require to install MyColors. Do we install MyColors for each and every theme? Is that a tad redundant and is it gonna wreak havoc with my registry?

Tweak7 and TweakVista point to the same file, Tweak7_enhanced_setup.exe 5,200,352bytes.  Is that right?

Yes, the installer detects what OS you're using, and installs the correct version.

DaveRI
(I presume DriveScan, ObjectZip, Object Desktop Launchpad are discontinued no longer available.)

Correct.

You only need to install the MyColors program once.  To install other themes, just register those themes in MyColors, and install them from there.

as for this one sorry if you might think I was/am trying to steal it but I do have it installed and have had it the hole time I got Objectdesk Top or since Impulse came out cause it's listed in it and according to Impulse it's installed but I just checked my all programs list and it's not their so I don't know why Impulse tells me it's installed and lets me install it (Or should I say Makes me believe it's installed) any case if you need this info  from Impulse (DesktopX Pro 3/18/2010 V3.91 BETA) just clicked the run button in impulse  I don't know if it is pro or not or what it's doing but here's the info on it  (DesktopX Builder 4.o) about (3.91[b].051)

This is actually a bug in Impulse.  For some reason it couldn't tell the difference between Standard and Pro, so if you installed Standard, it also showed Pro installed.  Annoying, I know, but there you have it.  If you didn't specifically purchase Pro at any point, then you only had Standard, as that's what comes with Object Desktop.

Ps Just so I know why is

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords

listed on the new site but Bullet Candy is not

is it do to GC2 is a stardock game? and BC is not?

Correct, GalCiv is Stardock, Bullet Candy is 3rd party.

OK, everything seems to work for me at the SD store except the download links for the following:

Pirate Suite

Magic Suite

Vintage Suite

How can I get these?

The Pirate Suite link seems to be fine, though the other two seem to be not so functional.  Looking into it...

Magic and Vintage should be fixed now, though give a few to let the cache update itself on the server.

These packages show up with serials in my products page but do not work:

  • ControlCenter 1.5 (controlcenter192a.exe)
  • IconX (Iconx110--enhanced.exe)
  • ObjectBar (ObjectBar210_enh.exe)
  • RightClick (RightClick120_enhanced.exe)

"The serial number you entered does not appear to be correct for this installer..."

The key looks like: OD-*******-OEM-********** though obviously the unique parts are hidden.

Also, Stardock Virtual Desktops does nothing in my Windows 7 64-bit. I assume it's old Win2k/XP stuff. Maybe you should put "Discontinued," OS required, and/or file date next to the links so we can see what's what without installing.

So...not to bitch...cause I have had very little to bitch about with STardock products...but I just renewed my sub and do NOT have access to everything? No Tiles. I can't add anything I may not have had on PC previously...AND the system does not recognize my registration number?

A tip on this BEFORE I renewed (or anyone else does) would have been nice. If I missed it, I apologize. It should be a sticky and on the front page until the issue is fixed. I ain't getting what I payed for. You got my money and I got a pop-up that keeps telling me my registration is expired. I'm not a happy smurf, here.

Po...this IS that 'sticky' thread to which you refer.

I believe that for some the registration status shows incorrectly - in other words although you are renewed/up-to-date some are still getting indication to the contrary.  I think Rosco's chasing that.

Pop back a few pages and you'll soon be up to speed...

Po, to recap it for you and save you the read through...since you just renewed, Impulse will not work for you. You should only have access to your programs through the Stardock store and at the present time, beta's are not listed in the store. Since tiles is in beta, it's not listed in your programs.

Rosco said he was working on getting them listed so it should be availible to you soon.

Thanks, I understood all of that.

Just miffed about the betas.

Then, for example, I have FX on my desktop but never had it on the laptop. If I want to put it on there, I cannot because the system says my registration (my new one) is expired. In other words, I do not have access to everything (excluding the beta stuff), only whatever I have already installed.

First, does "FX" refer to WindowFX 3, 4, or CursorFX?  Are you using Impulse, or the standalone installers?  I just tested installing WindowFX 4 using your account info and the standalone installer, and it worked perfectly.  Can you take me step-by-step through what you are doing so I can try to reproduce?

Sorry for the gap between replies. WOrk has me on the road days at a time.

Right now, I am just back from the Er and severely medicated. When I come down, I'll get my laptop out and go through it step by step. Sorry, can't think it through right now without actually doing it. But I will get back to you. I appreciate the help and time. Like I said, I have had little to nothing to complain about with Stardock products. I'm still a rabid and loyal user.

Regardless of object edit being discontinued, why is it no longer available? I have created files that allow syntax highlighting for this that I use constantly, will there be no way to get this in the future?

I generally only renewed my subscription to object desktop for windowsblinds and object edit.

I'm not sure, exactly, but the number of people that still use it is most likely extremely small, as most people have discovered Notepad++:

http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

I very much recommend checking it out, as it does syntax highlighting, and a whole slew of other powerful features.  Plus it's free as in beer AND free as in speech.
