Nonsense Rejection

I rencently uploaded a wallpaper and it was rejected! Not for nudity or profane language in the wallpaper but for the XP Flag! I have not broken any guidelines stated on this site! here the wonderful email i recived...

Unfortunately your upload has not met our guidelines and has been rejected.
Reason: moderated

I feel the reason why this wallpaper was rejected because many people have a dislike for xp-related items, I think most of my wallpapers are of high quality and I do try my best at my wallpapers even if the majority does not like it, there are still "xpfreaks" out there. I could understand if I ripped a wallpaper from xp and said it was mine, I have seen many xp related wallpapers here recently that are of lower quality and layout being accepted.
to bring up the point that most of my wallpapers have such low ratings it is because most people dont like the xp "genre".

I think that there can still be room for more 'XP' related submissions in the future....however they WILL need to be strikingly creative and original....something that grabs you and makes you go 'wow'.
Perhaps, given the current plethora of XP related walls, artists will need to apply themselves even more dilligently to being exceptional or else suffer rejection.
But unless the site is renamed 'WinXPize.com', people will have to be resigned to this.
There is a world of alternative subjects for graphic representation out there, and no real reason to be transfixed and mesmerized by two letters of the alphabet...

Without going into specifics (as there is no request for a detailed critique) the wallpaper in question here was not rejected for it's XP content (though that didn't help).
Crae - thanks for the link to Shoggot's famous moderation rant. It's hard to think of a better term to use for a rejection on aesthetic evaluation than 'moderated'. I assume it's use hasn't been copyrighted by thirty4i.
Overall, my impression is that it's not that hard to get a wallpaper in here. I wish time would allow us to write a full critique with each moderation email notice but sadly it's just not possible. As long as people know we take it seriously and it's not a flippant or casual assesment.

As sent today to aid in understanding on a queried upload......
Whenever you upload graphical or musical or any other property that is not yours or specifically released for you to do so, you violate legal copyright...just like Napster.
For us to consider hosting work such as this, we would need verifiable authorization from the original artist.
I know it sounds weird or over the top, but art sites in general, and WinCustomize in particular will defend and respect the original artists' rights, to the detriment of those posting if needs be.
