Are there plans for an option for positioning top/bottom of the screen?

OK, this falls under the category of "configuration menu grouping and ordering just doesn't feel right" I mentioned earlier:

  • Right click / Configure pages / Add filters ...
  • In there (bottom of left column) you can add, rename and delete pages.
  • Except:  You aren't allowed to rename the "apps" (whuich doesnt appear in the list), "web" or "my tiles"
  • You can turn pages off (without deleting them) from "Right click / Configure pages" (including "apps", "web" and "my tiles"

Reply #38 & 40:

I'm on W7/64bit and MS Office works fine for previews. I dragged each program from windows explorer to my 'office' page. Previews showup for my 'office' page and the 'apps' page.

I guess it matters how you get the link there. I went back deleted the previous links and then dragged new ones from Windows Explorer (not Dopus or the Start Menu) and now it works for all items previously listed. Folders open with Dopus and that DOES NOT work. I wasn't paying attention at the time but I'm positive I pulled the folders out of Directory Opus and I'm guessing I got those particular programs from there as well. Changing subjects..... I use Coretemp with the temps shown in the Systray notification....all I get in the systray now is 4 coretemp icons. I have a similar issue with Outlook. Instead of seeing an email icon when there's new mail I just see another Outlook (2010) icon.

The option to 'Show System Icons' doesn't seem to work for me. Is there anything else to do other than clicking on that option, cause nothing happens when I do that?

Installed Tiles on XPP SP3 & ran it in one profile (local machine).  Played with it for awhile, trying out each Tile Panel size and various other settings, then exited the program.

Now, even after a reboot, maximized windows are limited in width as if the large Tile Panel were there; won't max to the right screen edge (or to right-sided vertical Taskbar), leaving a big gap of wallpaper.  How do I get windows to max properly now?

EDIT:  With apologies:  I discovered that Tiles was loading on startup 'underneath' my vertical Taskbar & unseen.  Even so, windows were not maxing to the edge of the Tiles Panel (small size) or Taskbar with Tiles running.  I exited Tiles again & windows now maximize properly.

It's either on top of the systray, covering it, or under it and this means you can't get to pinned apps.

That should be all you have to do as long as your explorer is not running elevated (in which case try a reboot)

Note that the icons do not show on the docs or recent pages so if you are on one of those then change page.

Thanks for the response. I have confirmed that MS Office 2010 is previewable in Tiles. I'm sure they'll fix the shortcut issue in a future revision. In the mean time, I've created a shortcut for the program, but it lives in the actual "Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office/Office14/" folder itself (because I don't want titles like EXCEL.EXE in the Tiles list). However, when I drag either the EXE or the shortcut into the Tile, it works fine.

Now, the only thing that's left, that I'd really like to do, is make Mouse 4 & 5 page through the Tiles regardless of where the pointer is or what window is active. A way to keymap the forward and back functionality would be the best. I have been trying to hack this in with AutoHotKey, but I'm a coding noob and don't have the time to tease out the proper syntax.

Still - I'm quite happy. I can't wait for it to get even more fleshed out.

You can switch between pages using ctrl + alt + left arrow or ctrl + alt + right arrow.

Mouse buttons 4 & 5 were intentionally limited to when the mouse is over the tiles bar because webbrowsers use them for back and forwards and we did not want to cause problems with those.

I do not understand reply 52.

I meant that when I loaded Tiles, the bottom of the panel was lapping over the taskbar, covering the systray. I set the taskbar to be on top of all windows, and then the apps pinned to tiles were below the taskbar, so they were inaccessible.

A reboot seems to have fixed it tho.

Amazing program. One question to the "web" tab: it shows only the browser window and not every single tab, maybe it's only a problem with my Google Chrome browser. Does this problem exist in others browsers?

Opera isn't showing at all on Web page.  IE is, with only the active tab.

Opera not showing on the web tab should be fixed in the next beta.
