widows 7, x64

Drag and dropped the External link from this page onto tiles. Used both Firefox(the default browser) and Explorer.

The links don't "open shortcut" from menu, get the error  "Windows cannot find '...'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again."
Can't unpin the link from tiles, nothing happens

Now have two permanent links on (apps) Tiles.

[edit] ... shift drag gets rid of them

When in 'Tiny' mode, I can't scroll to the next page if my title fills the width - could that be changed, please?

As a short term solution you can also use buttons 4/5 if your mouse have them.

It was on system startup in XP so I presume, I didn't get a chance to see, just the apps page with no windows actually open yet.

[Edit]

Some more info:

Startup: Windows Blinds (Fly blind), Object Dock 2.0, Keyboard Launchpad, CTHelper.exe, DeathAdder (mouse driver), StartCCC, VolPanel, ctfmon.exe, Steam, Real VNC and NIS 2010.

Some more ideas:

- How about making the caption pop up as a toolltip (or scroll) when the mouse is over it or its tile?  This would be particularly useful for explorer windows so you can quickly see what folder they are looking at.

- Dragging and dropping shortcuts between Object Dock and Tiles would be handy.

- I don't have multiple screens at home (yet) but an option on the right click menu of a tile to move that window to a given screen would be handy.

- Why not bung minimize and maximise/normalise buttons on the tiles as well as the close window one?

It is a nice enough program but I'm going to have to see if I want to replace using ObjectDock Plus V2 and Fences.

How about an undock function like what was on the old ObjectBar program.

Hmm, I don't see this as a replacement to either ObjectDock or Fences.

At first I thought it might replace ObjectDock but then I realised that OD allows me to access applications with a few mouse movements and a single click.  To access the same hierarchy of app's using Tiles would need a lot of click/swipes moving around the pages.  Plus the visual look and behaviour of OD is better for accessing applications.  It will remove the need for having running tasks and system tray in any of my docks and alt-tabbing between apps.

It might give an alternative to Fences for tidying up shortcuts but I think it would be more of "as well as" rather than "instead of".  Again it comes down to ease of access - swiping through pages as opposed to arranged on the desktop.  Fences gives more flexibility on layout for this.  Personally I keep my desktop completely clear so don't need Fences - which maybe means I'm not qualified to comment.

Oops - another crash - this time coming out of screen saver mode.

Windows XP: Firefox, Object Dock settings and Thunderbird were running - sitting on the "apps" page with appearance set to "Match current system skin".

Some problems with the size and location option. Reserve desktop space does not always work.

Which OS are you using?

Also if this is about it being on the left and some windows not positioning correctly, this is almost certainly an app issue.  An easy way to tell is to put the taskbar in that position and see what happens.

Well, for example: it happens when i apply a new theme through WindowBlinds.

Window 7 x64 SP1

Great app Neil - something that I like enough to hide the Windows 7 Taskbar for...couple things

  • can't get filtering to work.....added mirc.exe (v7.19) to the "web" page but it won't show...tried several methods just won't happen. It does show all channel windows on the apps page.
  • Is there a setting in Firefox 4 RC1 that needs to be set in order to see each tab separately? I only ssee the current focus.
  • might be my misunderstanding but, aren't the shortcuts dragged to the top supposed to show as thumbs when run? Made a new page called work, dragged the AutoCAD 2008 icon onto it started the program from there but, mine doesn't change from the icon.
  • doesn't respect the Nextstart Taskbar settings.....ends up behind it or on top of it
  • not a bug...but it would be nice to change the icon size of the pinned ahortcuts at the bottom.

Doesn't work for me. I have a G9 Laser w/4 set to "back" and 5 set to "forward"

edit 2 - fixed mouse buttons by setting to "Genenric Button 4 & 5"

Windows 7 32bit SP1

Added some shortcuts to Tiles. Would not launch the apps. Double clicking the app icon caused Tiles to disappear. Returns with Alt + Tab -> Desktop. Added My Computer shortcut and when clicked on it crashes Tiles. After that at every startup Tiles would crash immediately. Removed from Startup list. Uninstalled via Impulse. Will wait for the stable version.

Love it so far. However, my MS Office apps aren't showing in Preview Mode. I've tried adding from a separate shortcut and from the menubar as well. No dice.

Oh, and I'm on Win7 64bit

I see it's program dependent. So far for me..... AutoCAD 2008, MS Word & Excel 2007, Adobe Acrobat 9.4.2, all folders (at least in Dopus 9.5.6.0.something) Strange thing is they all work on the apps page.
