January Desktop Screenshots

Well happy new year everyone. I thought I would get the ball rolling with a new screenshot post seeing how December 2010 has left us.
Here is a new take on Solid State thanks to a new texture I made tonight. I now know how to do them, YEAH! The start menu and taskbar in this shot are not transparent. It is a schematic texture.

That's the new (or not so new) AF chevrons for MSgt, used to be six 'stripes' were MSgt and six and one above was SMSgt. Now CMSgt has three above. I think they did it to make/show MSgt thru CMSgt as the top three.
Oh my, I must be getting old. ![]()

some really nice stuff here. JC, you are having way too much fun, some very interesting things that you're doing. love the gauges.

this is what I'm currently working on. although it is at a point that I can use the skin on a day to day basis, it has a long way to go.

Quoting LightStar, reply 60Loving that clock OldMsgt, (or should I say SMsgt)! From one old USAF Msgt to another!

Yes that is why they did it. I wore the Old ones. I retired January 1986. I could not find an old 6 stripe icon so I used the present Stripes,.
The clock was made especially for me by a member/skinner of clocks here at WC

gmc2,
You've outdone yourself with this one! In love with the dark brown velvety texture of this windowblind. The creamy caramel beside it. And All the other extras...... I won't even begin.
Incredible.... Can't wait, ![]()

THis is sweet. Quick question. Do the green lights blink when the hard drives are being accessed.

Darn image load is being a pain...couldn't add text....gonna be yet another failing of IE9....![]()
F-14 Tomcat 2D screen derived from existing model's 3D cockpit screen....as it didn't have one at all.
The tricky bit [so far] was getting the Wing Sweep gauge to function realistically.... had to be coded from scratch.
The graphics involved includes per-pixel modding.... drawing one pixel at a time. The coding is also that critical.
Still heaps of glass effects [alpha channels] to add... to gauges and windows.
The buildings outside are the carpark levels and Hilton Hotel at Melbourne Airport...as seen at 200 knots and 770 feet....![]()
As 'wallpapers' go...it really doesn't work....as it's far too crowded and confusing.... but just like JuniorCrook's screenie in the OP....it has 'gauges' ....![]()
If anyone's ever wondered...the Sysmetrix skin is a combination of treetog's "Antares" and my Seiko wristwatch...[those gauges work, too]....![]()

Jafo .. that screenshot is awesome. An F-14? One of my favorites. Do you have the F/A-18, F-15E, AV-8B Harrier ... I could go on and on ... lol.
My latest. Wall is called Scrapwood. Picked it up from DA. I actually made it a .theme from DrJBHL's post on how to make them.

'An F-14? One of my favorites. Do you have the F/A-18, F-15E, AV-8B Harrier "
Yes...all of those...and oodles more.
SOOO much stuff is available - Freeware and Payware.... there's so much around the Payware is seldom necessary at all....though the Alphasim/Virtavia F-105D is payware.
This 'Cat is a freebie...and from what I've seen of screenies...it's the best available....though all the gauges are modelled within the plane model file and do not exist separately...which means I have to source all the 'suitable' gauges in my Panel from elsewhere....or make them myself...![]()

I once built a 1/32 scale model of an F/A-18 Hornet. Took the control panel and cut out the gauges and replaced them with clear plastic stock. Painted the dials on them, drilled out the lights and used fiber-optics to simulate them. Great fun but that was back when you could actually buy the model kits. Nowadays you couldn't touch one for less than a hundred bucks if you could find them at all.
