Wincustomize suggestions

Does not mean we will do it, but maybe if we like the idea we'll do.
What I would like to have is a theme section to skin WinCustomze and be able to track the number of person using the theme. What do you think about it?

Well for Starters, since Brad is complaining about WC, use of resources, funding and whatnot, I have an observation and a suggestion.
1. Observation... I Pulled up Icon Packager today,
after a Systems Restore, and wanted to get some packages downloaded. I used the web integrated feature, and popp'ed over to the Packagers, Package Repository. When I got there I was informed that, the Repository was limited to 5000, users and that I was being redirected, to Wincustomize, for Downloads.
2. Are the Bandwidth issues, from the overflow, of Stardocks Software Redirection? If so, stop that and the site will not be arrears, of it's "Grant" from Stardock. Also a side benefit, it will probably speed up.

Cygnus this is a shared library. Stardock is not taking so much more, it's WinCustomize that takes a lot of the trafic.

I would still like to see a personal stats page on the front page, just text, no images. That was one of the best features of Skinz.org, and one which I thought may have been carried over to this site. Does anyone agree with me?

I would like to see this site stay up for a long time and not disappeared due to heavy traffic = too high bandwidth costs. Therefore to reduce the number of people just downloading and not contributing I suggest that everyone has to register to get permission to use the site and that there will be a limit on how many megs you can dl each month.

How about being able to Search all programs at once, instead of only being able to search in one program at a time.

Yeah, I second (third) the ideas for the personal stats, I'd like to see that, too. And Murks' idea is good as well. Perhaps, speaking of searching, searching for authors also isn't possible at the moment, is it? Perhaps if that could be made possible...
About tracking the users using (now that's repetitive) one site skin, personally I think it would be a nifty little feature, but the other things suggested (enhanced searching features, personal stats) would be more important to me. User tracking is more of an "'interesting to know, but now where are the actual skinz?'-feature" for me
And then theres that thing I already suggested in another thread - an idea pool. I saw it over here -> http://www.digitexturia.com/features.php?feature=ideaPool and I really think it's somethig I'd like to seeat WC.
the idea is a page where everyone can post their way of getting inspired - strategies that help them, etc. I think that would be nice to see over here.

I just checked and you can search by author. But you have to be in a section first. I too would like to be able to search multipel sections at a time for the same skin name.

I preferred the Top Skins display at Skinz, i.e. where all the top skins were from a different category and there were fewer of them.
I always bothered to look at the top skins list at skinz, but not here for some reason.

How about making it possible to kill all those menu's on the left and right? Or make 'em collapsable like on DevArt and ScreenPhuck.

hard code the colors of the links under the logo. They are appearing black on dark blue background on my system, and I can't read them without putting my face an onch from the screen.
Also, could you please look into what happened to my original account? I just now got logged in again to a second account I made after 3 months of not being able to log in.

A little more info on my login problem.
I signed up originally under one email address, and everything worked fine for about a week. then when my buffer was cleared, it didn't auto-log me in. I tried to re-login and it kept giving me the "invalid account" page. I made a second account under another address. The same scenario happened. I waited three months and I am able to login to the second account now, but still not the original. I assume I will not be able to login again after my buffer is cleared again. And I have run out of valid enail addesses.
Also, this is not browser specific. I have tried to login using StarOffice (my default), I.E. Netscape, Mozilla and K-Melion.

A lot of times authors will upload a bunch of skins under the same name as an entire theme - take Treetog's Siderado or Sputnik for instance. There will be downloads for WindowBlinds, NextStart, Beatnik, Coolplayer, etc. It would be nice to have an easy way of seeing all of the skins for that theme on the same page, or better yet a way to download all of them at once. Right now, I have to go to each application section individually and download each one.
