ObjectDock 2 Freezes when running Task Manager
Monday, October 18, 2010 by harrison1701 | Discussion: ObjectDock
Vista 32bit Business.
OB2 showing running tasks.
When you run taskmanager,( i.e. ctrl-alt-delete / start task manager). Task Manager will run, but OD will freeze for 30 seconds. After 30 second it will start responding and the TM will then show in the dock.
When you then quit TM, OD will freeze again for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds OD will start responding again and the TM icon will disappear from OD.
Thanks
Bryan

For whatyever it is worth, I haven't experienced this running OD2 and W7 x64, thank Goodness, and I opened TM a bunch of times since installation

I have the same problem on 32-bit Windows 7,
it happens when i 'end a process' or 'end task' using Task Manager...
EDIT: it actually also happens when just opening Task Manager, it just happened to be that whenever i opened Task Manager i always ended a task or process..

I have the same problem. I'm running objectdock 2 in win7x64. Everytime I start task manager objectdock freezes for 10-30 seconds, then the taskmanager icon shows up on the dock and it works fine. Closing taskmanager causes the same freeze.

I had this issue. Stardock support couldn't come up with a answer apart from re-installing windows.
I finally got a chance to do a clean install, and hey presto, OD no longer freezes.
So I still don't know why it happened, nor what might make it happen again, but all is fine now.

For the people with this issue, what are you using to call up Task Manager? Ctrl-Alt-Del? Ctrl-Shift-Esc?

This may be of interest. When I went for SP1 there was mention that some programs would experience functionality problems. None of Stardock's software was mentioned but it could be an issue.

The issue happens when you have "Reserve Edge Of Screen" turned on.

thank you harrison1701. I turned off "reserve edge of screen" on all of the objectdock docks I have and the problem went away. Hopefully someone at stardock sees this and can fix in a patch update.

Shirley, the problem occurs no matter how task manager is started. I've tested cntl-alt-del, running from the start-run dialog, creating links, creating shortcuts on object dock, and using the stack docklet. No matter how task manager is started and no matter how it is closed the problem would occur on starting and stopping task manager.
I would add that harrison1701's observation that "reserve edge of screen" was linked to the problem turned out to be correct for me. I turned that off on all docks and the problem went away.

We were able to reproduce this here, and have reported it to the developer.

Yes. I logged it as a bug which they say "could be fixed in a future release". Make of that what you will, but the actual issue is the combination of "reserve edge of screen" and "hide taskbar".

I couldn't reproduce this. Does this also happen with the default ObjectDock 2 settings and contents?
