Anyhow, what you all think...When I submited it I attached this story with it as well,

It is 3038 and the planet Latvinious has met inevitable destruction. Latvinious has evacuated 3 years prior to the cataclysmic disaster which is currently taking place at this exact moment of time. The light source you see is a the birth of a star, which won’t come into full existence for another 1,230,7540 years. Latvniniousan’s new that one distant day, in the unrecognizable future, this beautiful planet would meet its’ conclusion. Never did they expect it to come so soon. One brave soul, who is unafraid to come face to face with his creator, opened his Photoshop 7, pulled out his Wacom tablet and drew the planet and its’ new found friend, RAGE.

Overall I think that it looks both unrealistic and childish.
Space scenes are probably the hardest works to realize as they by necessity must be 'imagined', not created from life.
Most amateurish works are attempts at science-fiction or space scenes.
Remember........ you DID ask...

I dare you do do a better space scene....
That is all I will say...
your remark, to say the least, was childish...

I have an idea for it though...
But how is the overall effect... I think it is very good...I could probably find something wrong with Britney Spears too...I still want to have her children though...

hmmmm.
you said:(goodmorphing)
| and get someone like Jafo who is an expert in the field to give an evaluation because you asked and because he is nice |
And I say...
That is exactly what I mean about a "clique"
how old are you 3... obviously that was an unnessacerry comment from him, or at the very least one that was upsetting to me...then you come and say because he is nice....
Have you ever heard of the word "EMPATHY" it means, in short, do unto others as though you would like for them to do unto you. <<
I respected his first critique, the second was uncalled for...
Come on with this silly banter...
lets be "Adults"

naitsirch79....either post your work publicly here and face the consequences...or submit it for moderation/approval and face the consequences.
If you desire criticism you will get it.
....and you did.
The reason I do not post space scenes of my own doing is exactly because I KNOW they will look like crap.....why?....because I know they are hard to pull off well.
If you realise exactly how hard they are to do you would not be submitting this as is.

one 5 out of 7. so it must not be "that bad"...
could I improve yes. but give me things that could make it better...don't just throw off some snide comment. if it looks "unrealistic" give a solution to why you feel that way....for the most part I agree with what you say, but would love the solution on how I could improve, not a corilation to my youthfulness....
, jjlets just be cool...

Change the 'balance'
Improve depth perception
Remove cartoon-like colouring
Spots for distant stars look unnaturally even
Blotch at upper left looks nothing more than a 'blotch'...... what is it?
Ask yourself would anyone REALLY want this as their wallpaper, and if so, for how long?
Remember yet once more that you are supposed to be submitting wallpapers not enrolling in Digital Art 101.
I'd strongly suggest you keep practising. Give up on this and start anew, as rehashing a 'bad idea' will just end up with a 'rehashed bad idea'...

First off, Thanks that helps
lets break this back down...
Depth Perception... I guess moving the planet and what not a little to the right and up should do the trick, and I know, I have to fix those damn nebula's
"cartoon like coloring" actually this is textured pretty well. are you referring to the nebulas' because if you are I kinda see your point, other than that the planet is not cartoon colored. The other rist is a little bright with blue but that can be changed easily. Also the breaking planet "cracks" can easily be taken out or at least darkened up. with out them it looks more realistic to the planet, with them looks unrealistic but oh so cool...I can also tone done the colors of the rings as well, but hey Uranius has some pretty cool rings...I think I will leave them...
Spots for distant stars, I am guessing I need more of a "blurred look for stars that are in the distance. That should be easy enough to do with another set of stars and this time blurr them.
"blotch at upper left" hmmmm,,,,I could work on this I guess to make it better, but if you read the story, it is the planets lightsource, so I will have to make it better or move and rotate it around, kinda matching it up with the astroid.

mmm...
naitsirch, not knowing your back ground as far as art goes I will make a couple of suggestions that might help some.
Checking out some Architectural Design and something on Perspective Drawing can help even the best artist as reference and understanding the positioning of things, shading and such.
As Jafo states Composition is also a key feature in any work of art.
Anything you take up to do should have a concise plan of attack. be it art, a job, mowing the lawn and so forth.
Do some sketchs with possible layouts of key elements, know that a lot of clutter will draw attention away from the key point your wish peoples eyes to rest upon most.
Colors will draw eyes away and also fits right in there with clutter. Detail of focus helps keep attention where you would like it to stay. If you take three balls and line them up along a path leading to a vanishing point you would probably want sharper focus placed on the one closest to you and the least on the farthest.
whats you screen name at Deviant and I can go take a look there if the link doesn't show up after I reload the site updates?
