Monday, May 31, 2010 by Vampothika | Discussion: Skinning

Hi guys,

we have had some requests about learning how to make window blinds, some of the tuts out there are a bit dated and hard to understand,

so Im putting together a series of extremly easy to follow and understand tutorials focused on how to make a windowblind from beginning to end.

If anyone has questions, please ask! or if anyone has suggestions....do tell us, the more secrets we crank out the better.

Tomorrows tutorial will look at painting margins, startmenu font, username font, margin seperators, all programs arrow and the log off buttons.

Is there a zip file of .bmp images that a typical skin would use that newbies could use as a starting point? I like to think I'm a good digital artist but getting the sprites right is a little tedious. If I had a basic set of images. That I could open in Photoshop and replace with my own work would be awesome. Does something like that exist?

Thanks for taking time to read.

Kind Regards

Wilhelm

Use the Corporate or Diamond WB that comes with Windowblinds as a templete. One of those is the preferred one to use from Stardock but it's been so long can't remember which one.

Besides using the Diamond skin as a template, you can also open any skin up in SKS and look at what is there and make your own changes. Many skinners here at WC started out by modding an existing skin (For your own use of course, not for re-uploading) before they created their own original works from scratch.

Good Luck.
