MacOS "Panther" not 64bit

The Register has an article that discusses the fact that at the end of the day, while the G5 may be a 64bit CPU, Panther, the code-name to MacOS 10.3, is still 32bit.

I've also read that unlike the x86 64-bit variants (Itanium) the G5 does not suffer a loss in performance by running 32 bit software. Basically it's a "run what you got" processor. I can't wait to see this in practice.

Well, MWNY (CreativePro Expo, formally MacWorld New York) is in a few days, so maybe Apple's VP of hardware will clear all this up for us!
