WindowBlinds delay

Monday, March 24, 2003 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

We are still putting some finishing touches on WindowBlinds 4. So we've decided to delay until the week of March 31st.

In the meantime, here are some screenshots of WindowBlinds 4 in action:

WindowBlinds.net also has a brand new home page designed by our lead admin, Alexandrie! She's also been the one working on other Stardock pages.

If you want a sneak peek at WindowBlinds 4, you can purchase Object Desktop which is the suite of desktop extensions that includes DesktopX, ObjectBar, IconPackager, WInStyles, SkinStudio, and more. You can find out more about Object Desktop at http://www.objectdesktop.com

Just a quick question. The Windows XP font it sort of bold and has a thin fuzzy shadow behind the font. Is there a place I can download the font?

Yea, most of the tweaks are in the default skins we're including. We want to make sure they're optimized for WindowBlinds 4.

Is anyone having problems with the newest version of WB4 or Skin Studio 3 from Stardock Central (On XP Pro SP1a)? I updated to the newest versions, reboot as prompted and I get locked out of booting up windows with a nice little message saying "NTLDR NOT FOUND, Press Ctrl, Alt, Del to restart this machine". Luckily I have my system backed up with Norton Ghost, so restoring from that saves me, but this is crazy and I've had to do this 3 times yesterday after trying to figure out what went wrong and was able to narrow it down to an Object Desktop issue. If anyone else is feeling the same pain as me, please speak up...

Hotsauce, its not windowblinds or skinstudio, its the newest version of Stardock Central. It hosed my system twice, and 4 times to another guy on the sdcentral newsgroup.

Thornz, I feel for you man! I appreciate the info, now I know not to go anywhere near SD Central v.99. I had a feeling one of the Stardock progz spanked me good, at least now I know which one. I'll try v.98, hopefully that works out ok, if not I guess I'll only be burning about 10 min of restore time again since I'm on a clean windows install at the moment anyways. Thanks again Thornz, that helps me out a LOT!

the other guy who was having the problem on sdcentral newsgroups said .98b or whatever worked fine. I cant find the file now though :: I think I deleted it off my other drive after downloading .99

Im ODless until they release a fixed version, Im not going to bother installing CM since its going to force me to install SDC anyways. :crosses fingers: heres hoping for a new version soon

....Ask, hope, any thy shall recieve, LoL. I installed an older version of SD Central and it auto-updated itself to a newer version, 99b.141 and when I rebooted, all worked fine. I think you'll be safe, but I'd still keep your fingers crossed and pray to the big skinning guy in the sky and/or the great drinking hangover god of the toilet bowl after a long night of 12 oz. arm curls, LoL. I think they caught the bug in time before it wiped out all thier customers computers and lost all thier business to msstyles and hacked theme.dll's, hehehehehe I hope it all works out on your end. Hasta La Pasta!

thanks Hotsauce. I cant find my ghost CD though, and I just got all my stuff installed again. Im going to hold off until a stardock rep responds to one of the comments on the newsgroups.

Is there anything mentioned in the readme about the fix?

Nothing in the readme Thornz, but I figured my whole hard drive was eaten already, so I had nothing to lose by trying a different version of SD Central. My Ghost backup is only set up to give me a clean install of XP with all the current Windows Updates and Service Packs/Drivers from when I made the back up so I at least didn't have to do 3 hours worth of downloads of Windows Updates. Too bad I lost everything else (guilt trip to Stardock ::cough, hint cough:: Anything nice being done for us victims Frogboy??)

One thing, will you be including a Luna UIS1 skin with all the updates with the full version? Oh and custom color support would be nice .

Please, please, PLEASE release an update to the UIS+ file reference document - particularly for the new shelltyle sections. Just a single page outlining the parameters, which XP elements they relate to, and under what circumstances you see them in XP. (I'm delaying my current release because I haven't got any documentation and there's stuff I can't get to work and I don't know why...)

(er...did I say please?)

One quick question please. Is the new version of Windowblinds finally going to skin the All Programs bar of the start menu? ?
