PC sudden shut-down

my pride and joy has totally and unexpectedly shut down 4 times in the past week and half - no warning no frozen screen just shuts down.
anyone have any ideas as to why?

yes, this problem was mentioned on the nvidia site and our version was id'd as the latest and greatest.

oh dear ausvet - have just been trying to re-install my adobe ae and it wont lol i didnt de-activate other just formatted hdd. still on a positive note i went out and bought my own windows7 ultimate rather than relying on the kindness of a friend.
next month i will update graphics card and prob get a tetrabite hdd lol

You really should have mentioned that when we started asking questions. A lot of people spent time trying to help. Maybe your friend reached the limit of his/her activations?

You really should have mentioned that when we started asking questions. A lot of people spent time trying to help. Maybe your friend reached the limit of his/her activations?
Yeah, cos if that particular copy of Win 7 was activated on two machines/was active at the same time, problems were more than likely.... as in the second installation would have been classified non-genuine and periodically shut down... periodically to to begin with to give the user the opportunity to purchase a license. It's something I remember reading someplace a while back when Win 7 went RTM.

The problem isn't the fan. The image (below) isn't the W7 error log I requested.
More likely the problem is your copy of W7. Reinstall an original copy.

When you install, uncheck the box that allows Windows to automaticly activate.
This will allow you 30 days before you are required to activate. I allways install this way to make sure the OS is running stable, just in case I need to reinstall.

Hmmm, I'll have to remember this gem. I've had a couple of Windows installs that didn't go so well and needed a clean install to rectify the issues. Doesn't happen often... but it can happen, and I'd rather not be using up my activations on dud installs.

look - when you are unemployed and a good friend offers to help by using his windows7 and installing on my pc i dont see that as wrong. as it turned out i have used my meagre resources and got a brand new one tho i can ill afford it. still, i do appreciate ppls efforts and if i wasted your precious time then i apologise.

Lou in case you need to replace HDD, de-register your Adobe programmes first if you can, saves hassle of Support in India, Adobe programmes even on a post reformat have misbehaved on me without changing any hardware.
