THANKS for that bit of info.
I've found a tool to do just that at THIS PLACE.

Here is a different thought on the thread title, the people using XP will have to die for XP to die. ![]()

Yeah. I'm not ready to do this yet. So I'll repeat Live XP, Live!
Reply #45 Sunday, January 31, 2010 3:37 PM
die XP die eh?..... hmmm me thinks someone wants to become an elitist.... by a mac and do it properly.
just because you can afford to pay ridiculous prices to upgrade to the new OS, not everyone can so saying something like that makes those who still use XP feel like second class users. While your at it, wear pierre cardin socks and jocks and have your caviar. Hopefully (and no offence intended) you don't become a master because then you will have to skin for all 3 of the OS's and then we would never hear the end of the pissing and moaning. One thing to say..... grow up ![]()

I paid $49.00 prepaid to Microsoft for Windows 7 Home Premium. FYI

Well, it so happens that 20f3 is a Master.
Money issues not withstanding, we all choose the socks and undies we wear because we can, the same with computers and OS.
I don't think I have ever seen here that a Master has to skin for all OS, seems they should be able to choose. Down side to that would be that a smaller amount of members of the community will be able to run them without some parts of say the WindoBlind not looking correct.
Oh, and I still have an XP system running fine, and I have a second computer running Win 7, because I can, for no other reason than that. ![]()

2of3 wonders if he should piss first, or moan........
it's a dilemma ![]()
Reply #49 Sunday, January 31, 2010 4:04 PM
If your running anything else .,,than that's fine ,,But, what you need to know is a lot of people went back to XP just like myself because off the problems i had...Now as far as die...NO yes support they say ends for XP in 2014. But, they'er are alot of people still holding out on WINDOWS 7./.

And I might add that that eliteist SOB hasn't charged anyone for a blind even though he is a master!! ![]()

The price is to much anyway...YOU RUN WHAT YOU WANT..I'AM NOT SPENDING THE MONEY THIS TIME.......

Actually, yes, Masters DO have to skin for all OS, per this thread, reply #114; https://forums.wincustomize.com/368441/page/5/#114
Although, personally, I think that's rather hypocritical since Stardock is phasing out XP support for a lot of their software.

I wonder if the reference was talking about a Master doing a Master Skin for sale vs a Master Skinner continuing to do skins for free.
Not really sure of the reasons for having to skin for all OS as a Master.
Life as a non-skinner is so less complicated and stressful. ![]()

XP was great but that's gone now. We had two XP computers in the house but ......well they died. Not good but then all good things have to come to an end. So what do you do? Put more money into an old outdated hardware platform? 2002 era computers that were worn out. No, I took the plunge and went to Win7 64bit Home premium. To buy the whole computer cost about as much as what I've paid to get the old computers re-built! All I have is 3 gigs of RAM and it's a Compaq but man it's flying. Very fast. Can't believe how much faster log in and log out are. Booting up is amazing. Much faster than any XP computer I've ever used. Faster in general. 7 just rocks. Wonderful OS. I loved XP and when everything was right it was great but 7 really is better.

Seems to me that it is unreasonable that anyone should HAVE to skin for all 3 OS. Is Stardock/Wincustomize going to buy the skinner a computer? No. What if I don't have all 3? I can't release a Master Skin?
Come to think of it, not all Master Skins from Stardock Design support all 3 ![]()
For the record, I do happen to have XP, Vista and Win7 and I fully intend to do xp substyles for my skins as long as I have a working xp machine.

I don't think anyone should HAVE to skin all three OSs. If I purchase a Master skin though, it would be nice to have support for all three OSs, since there are three OSs out there that I may or may not be using. For me, I have all three, but others don't. I understand that and so do skinners. But you can't expect someone to do something. You can't make them do it either. Either they do, or they don't. In the end, it's their profits (if it's a Master skin) that hurt. And what does it hurt you? You can't use the skin. Boo-hoo.
If I purchase a Master skin, that's one of the things that I would def. look at. Does it run on all the OSs that I have? If not, is it still hot as hell on the target OS? You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time. ![]()

Because of finances I still have Windows XP. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Live XP Live. It works for me. If the skinners choose not to skin XP, I have plenty of skins that I have collected over the years that I love and use. Just because many can afford to upgrade their PC's with new hardware and a new operating system. please don't think XP users are second class. We get enough of that in real life.
