WB7 Win 7 Leopard skin
Friday, January 15, 2010 by key-7 | Discussion: WindowBlinds
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaase...
won´t somebody create a working Mac OS X Leopard WB7 Win 7 skin?
I was looking everywhere but I can´t find a proper working Leopard for Win 7.
Also I can´t find any good WB7 Win 7 skin I like.

WB 7 comes loaded with a skin called Leo. Althought the buttons are on the right (like any normal person would prefer
), it's pretty MAC-ish

I just realized the Leo is an older skin that I had on my system from a previous WB version. WB7 does have a MAC looking skin preinstalled called Sabertooth. This skin has substyles for both left and right titlebar button configuration and supports Win7.

"Buy a mac"... gimme the money, wise guy.
As I said: I did not find any skin working proper on WB7 Win 7 that were my taste.
And the skins that come with WB7 suck IMO. Suck bad. No offense, just MO.

Thx Richard.
Unfortunenately skinners did not figure out how to create a clean and good looking leopard clone/inspirat for vista or 7.
I checked them all, and I asked myself many times why folks release such stuff if it does not look good.
Maybe my expectations are too high, and as i said before, I don´t mean to be offensive. Give me a screenshot of any mac style for vista or 7, I show you at least 5 details that are crappy.
Nevermind, it´s just me being picky... or not?

Yes you are. If a MAC look and function is what you want.............well you know the answer. ![]()

Ok, I´ll take a ride to the computerstore next town and buy a macbook pro. If only I could make up my mind which car to take... my mercedes or my BMW...
Come on guys, what´s wrong? I just made a request for a skin and added that I am discontent. That´s all.
And I don´t need the function of OS X, I just like the look of the GUI.

You do have one more option, it will take sometime and talking with othere skinners here but you could try and make the WindowBlind yourself. The advantage to that is you will be able to get it to look just like you want it.
You will find that the folks in the community for the most part make skins based upon what they like and find functional for them.
There are also members of the community that making skins and in general changi the computer interface on a professional basis, theyt would be willing, I'm sure, to make a WindowBlind to your likes. No, not for free.
Have you look at other sites in the WinCustomize community?

This is a sign you should learn how to skin yourself! It's the first contraction of the long labor that results in the birth of a skinner.
Only you know exactly what you want, and only you know exactly how you want it to be. We could take the top 5 master skinners and set them out on the task to invent your Mac for Win7 skin, and it STILL wouldn't be exactly the way you want it, because it would be their impression of a Mac for Win7.
Start learning SkinStudio7 now....the hunger for satisfaction only gets worse as time goes on and the hunger goes unfulfilled. There are a lot of us here to help you.

I used to mod or create skins with stylebuilder, AVE´s windows style builder, and stuff for GNOME and KDE. But skinstudio gives me headaches. Of course I could try, put some time in it. Lately I am not in the mood.
Maybe I should just wait until real good WB7 skins are released, stuff like Novum OS for example.
Maybe I give skinstudio another try someday.
Thanks for all your comments.
I consider this one closed.

I took a look at Novum OS, and it struck me as being a bit like my Tinted skin, just downplayed a bit. Trust me, Tinted is good, and I designed it while running W7.

I've thought about doing a Leopard theme, but the desire just never overtook me. Maybe one of these days.

I think that if any of the amazingly talented skinners who frequent these forums, and actually charge for skins, where interested in taking up the
undoubted challenge of producing an outstandingly good snow leopard / leopard skin with right and left side caption button options and if the skin where
as close as is physically possible to leopard in appearance, they might well be surprised at how many skins they would actually sell.
Maybe.

I kind of doubt that a leopard clone could be sold, even if it did not bear the leopard name.

I would settle for just getting the WB6 Leo skin posted... That would be more than sufficent enough. I would like to see that particular Leo skin updated and with a Windows icon for the Start menu instead of a paw, but if I could get my hands on that WB6 Leo Skin to begin with, I could work on making that happen myself, lol.
Nobody that has it seems to want to share it and let us WB7 users get it. I've been around here lurking for a while, and recently installed WB7 on a new computer I've purchased and didn't get the luxury of having WB6 skins ahead of time, or WB6 to install first for that matter. I wrote Stardock Support requesting that Leo skin, but haven't seen a response there either.

Only Stardock can distribute their skin.....it's not a matter of us being mean, it's a legality issue

This may be possible but only if these conditions are met:
1:You have a computer around with *Vista on it or dual boot as I do. Make sure WindowBlinds isn't currently installed on it.
*This may not be necessary but I don't know if old versions will install on Win7.
2:You never used the trial of WB for more than 30 days.
3:The 6.0- 6.4 versions ( or any that should have Leo) actually are available on filehippo.com http://www.filehippo.com/download_windowblinds/4436/
If I'm right, you can install 6.2 then copy the Leo folder and use it on your Win7 install.
I don't see how this would violate any EULA so it should be legal and ......almost.......easy.

Buy a MAC. Stealth, Tinted, Frosted, Fools Gold, Sirus.......why there are a lot of Win 7 skins out there. Those aren't good enough?
