WindowBlinds 7 Released!

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Stardock released WindowBlinds 7 today. WindowBlinds is a program that allows users to customize the user interface of Microsoft Windows. By applying “skins,” WindowBlinds can easily change nearly every element of the Windows experience including the task bar, Start menu, window borders, scrollbars, push buttons, and much more.

WindowBlinds 7 includes a host of new features and adds native support for Windows 7. Amongst its new features is the ability to “skin Aero.”  WindowBlinds 7 includes a new configuration program that makes it easy to access the new features of the program. For example, users can now add their own textures to existing skins.

WindowBlinds 7 is available as a free download. It costs $19.95 to register or can be purchased for $49.95 as part of Object Desktop, Stardock’s full suite of desktop enhancement programs. Users of previous versions of WindowBlinds can upgrade for $9.95.

Is WB 7 available as a standalone download with installer or does one have to go through Impulse to download and install?

If purchased seperatly, then it is most likely standalone.

I bought it separately yesterday and the email gives your serial and a link to download Impulse and then WB7. I liked the native 7 GUI but was beginning to yearn for some hot skinning action so WV7 is a timely godesnd.

Thanks guys. I have no plans to install Impulse. I understand Stardock has to do what they think is right for them. I'll stick with WB 6.4 until I switch to Win 7 then remove everything Stardock related. No big deal.

I have no plans to install Impulse.

You could install Impulse, install WB7, then un-install Impulse...

Something else that is new is you can now add your own explorer background textures

1° where are the default ones stored ?

2° how to link a particular background texture to a specific WB (and keep it in memory) as it was previously the case with WB6 ?

Thanks

EDIT: I just noticed neither WB 7.00.006 from 11/17/2009, neither WB 7.00.009 from 11/18/2009 permit anymore to set Backgrounds Opacity levels (under XP SP3)
