Sizes for each separate part of skin

I am completely stuck with skinstudio 6.4 I was told to study other peoples skins which I have done with a few, I want to know what
Size to make each individual section ex. start menu top what size am I supposed to create it in photoshop?
Ther are no tutorials that I found to help the wiki doesnt help me nothing online leads me to understanding how to even make a
beggining there has to be a starting point what size is the start menu each skin Ive looked at all have different sizes so how am I
supposed to know if I should make it 1024x768 or 300x500 really there has to be a set size somewhere.
The only thing I do know is the wallpaper sizes which doesn't help me in the least as that is not sent into skinstudio for adding to
the skin.
What am I failing to understand?

Put some painting margins around that puppy! Looks like you need about 3-4 pixels.

Testing something ok that doesnt work lol cranking out the old rock tunes got some J Geils Sanctuary cranking while I'm figthing my way through this skin

It would be too tempting to bag the skin and head for the liquor cabinet if I were listenting to J Geils (most of the old rock, for that matter). Conditioned response -- I learned to drink when old rock was new -- I guess I'm Pavlov's lush. When I skin I usually listen to Neoclassical -- Bach and Beethoven done with electric guitars in speed metal fashion. My husband turned me on to some Yngwie Malmsteen, and later on I found Kevin Ferguson's "Strad to Strat" with the most awesome version of Vivaldi's Summer I've ever heard. I think because my day job involves listening to people talk all day, I prefer instrumentals when I'm skinning.

I do like some classical Beethovens Moonlight Sonota is pretty good

Here is what I'm talking about the edge around button is terrible and it's the original image for the luna skin so I have no idea what the problem is
