Today we are happy to announce an update to the WindowBlinds 7 Beta. The WindowBlinds 7 beta is currently available for active subscribers to Object Desktop, and can be downloaded via Stardock’s Impulse.
New in this update:
- XP toolbar & animations settings are back in the UI. They are under Settings now
- On Vista the sidebar skin settings are back in the UI. Also under Settings.
- Explorer backgrounds tab has been added to the UI. This will show on XP, Vista AND Windows 7.
- New Textures tab added to the UI.
- Support for enlarged menus on Vista / 7
- Some additional skin sections added for Vista / 7 including new shadow sections.
- The fixes for the start button clipping on multiple monitor Win7 boxes are in this build.
- The old WB UI has a bigger button for the new UI and says Beta 2 rather than Beta 1.
- You can drag wallpapers to the large preview area and it will copy them into the wallpapers folder off WB skins as it used to in WB6. Note that its the large preview area and NOT the list itself.

could someone please answer the question i posed in reply #8. It's not a huge deal but it is sort of odd.
Thank you

No fix for toolbaricons not working? Anyone have any idea why they aren't working? And also just noticed some skins that are in the WindowBlinds folder are not showing up..even after rebuilding the list.

Same problem as mentioned before for me ![]()
P.S: and in another way, when will be the time when Applications updates will be separated from skins downloading and installing in same time (it's uggly if you already get those skins personalized ...) and when will come back informations off what is exactly concerned by the coming update ?

still getting the occasional problem of some skins not loading with the new interface . I get the message "there appears to be no uis file are you sure this is a windowblinds skin" . well yes i am sure lol and these same skins load just fine in the old interface. Once they are loaded i can change back to the new look and the skins are there for me to use. Got me stumped why this would be happening. ![]()

Hi Giz! ![]()
Not sure what your exact problem is, but for me (on XP) applying icons through the new interface doesn't work either, had to switch to the old one for the change to actually apply. And on a related question: will the toolbar icons/animations previews come back in the new UI in a future release? Kinda crappy trying to pick a set with no preview.
Would also be nice for the skin preview to actually display according to what OS you're on (currently on XP but all the previews show Vista/7 style, regardless if the theme has a substyle for those or not). But I guess we XP people are becoming the minority now.

Yeah....No toolbaricons are working on XP with this latest build. And not sure if all are doing this but so far everything I've clicked on was showing the XP version of the skin. And yeah...I think we XP users are behind the flaws....uh....times. ![]()

Is there going to be an option to change the skin & textures folder this time around? I don't want the skin using up my main HDD, what then to install on a larger 2nd HDD.

Oh well...since there hasn't been any input regarding the toolbaricon problem I just rolled it back to WB6.4 and everything is working again. I hope they get this fixed some time soon,

No need to rollback Giz, just use the older interface and the changes will apply.
