I am new to the skinning community, having only recently purchased Object Desktop, CursorFX and Gef's awesome Phoenix-4 DesktopX Theme. My total expenditures so far for these three items is $77.85. I mention this not to complain, but to underscore my serious interest in this community and learning this craft. I would like to take the next step by subscribing, but cannot afford to invest any more at this time and am also reluctant to do so for another reason. Unfortunately, I've encountered a few problems with Phoenix-4 in XP Pro and was hoping to enlist the author's help to correct the issues. I have posted twice on his webpage for, Phoenix-4, to no avail. I then removed my posts and wrote to Tech Support and they just told me the obvious, viz., contact the author. I tried sending him a private message... still no reply. I then emailed WinCustomize... no reply. I then put another post on the author's webpage for Phoenix-4... still no reply. I put a post on the general Forum - no reply. I like the idea of a community that sticks together and offers help, but I am still waiting for that help.
Helping WC Community Members
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Over the last couple of weeks we have had some negative drama on WinCustomize. The weather widget alone has caused a ton of frustration alone, so I wanted to do something to bring some positive vibes to WC, and to show that we are a community.
Since the economy is in a bad situation, I know we have many members on WC who have been hit with very hard times. Trying to help someone who has lost a job for instance can be difficult, but I do know things like hobbies and friends can make a difference in attitude, which is a big step in moving again in the right direction.
I wanted to put an offer out there for people that might want to help other members with a WC subscription or even software gifts. There are people here who would like to contribute to the community, and we would like to give a helping hand in getting them started if they can’t do it on their own.
I’m going to start the ball rolling by offering 2 WinCustomize subscriptions for two people who are not current subscribers. Just tell us in 50 words or less why you would like to have a WC subscription, and what the community means to you. You need not give any personal details about your situation if you wish, I would just like to hear how skinning and the community might help you in general.
If there are any other community members that would like to help, I would recommend gifting applications to someone which is easily done in Impulse. Perhaps an upcoming skinner that needs a full version of WindowBlinds for instance, instead of relying on the trial or friends to test, for instance. If you would like to do that, you can PM me with details.

Island Dog... I want to donate a WC subscription too. PM me with the details. I don't need to know the personal history. I am sure you can handle that discretely.

No any problems. I have at least two redundant subscription (I even can't remember the reason, but I bought subscription until 2012)...
Please, take these subscriptions and send to people who will use them at the present. (If it's possible of course).

Island Dog, that is great advice. Everybody needs a helping hand sometimes. I myself find the WC community very helpful and I have seen a lot of great people.

A wonderful thing all you people that are donating are doing, what a top notch community we have here! ![]()
If I could I would have loved to donate something, but right now it is a little tough as my employer is closing the business and having my wife's and my student loans ( in which going back to school was to help find a somewhat stable career to support our family, but instead has put us further in debt) takes a big chunk out of our ( quickly diminishing) budget or else I would have bought myself a WC sub.

StarRoamer.....hi...![]()
Typically, often 'the real world' may/can get in the way of a person's online existence, which may be the issue you are striking with chasing a response from Gef.
Normally such would be readily forthcoming, so I expect 'things' got in your collective way.
Possibly the ideal solution would be to post a specific thread here in the forums requesting assistance from anyone who has struck your issue before/since...![]()

I don't think anything came from the OPReply #60 suggests otherwise.
As do several other replies.![]()

Hey Jafo,
I appreciate your suggestion. I had thought of requesting assistance for the specific problem I encountered, but sensed a reluctance of other members to suggest a fix for another author's work. Nevertheless, it can't hurt now, since I've exhausted every other possible solution. I'll give it a try.
Thanks
