2. can the background be png or only bmp

3. i would love someone to volunteer and email me and give me some tips on how to make them...as im pretty confused

hmm...new problem...how do you make the mouse over button sit *inside* the background area?....ive tried making it shorter but it dosent seem to work...........

Rather than making the image shorter, make the canvas wider. Here is the image I made for the ZubaZ RC:

Add these to lines to the .obskin/menuskin text file, they will move everything in from the edge of skin.

EdgeBuffer_Left=
EdgeBuffer_Right=

in general section right after

EdgeBuffer_Top=

EdgeBuffer_Bottom=

Then use

ItemIconBuffer_LeftOfIcon=10
ItemIconBuffer_BetweenTextAndIcon=8
ItemIconBuffer_RightTextClip=10
ItemTextOnlyBuffer_LeftOfText=10

 to tweak how everything sits.

For people like myself how use the meters, cpu, ram etc, the edgebuffer left and right is needed to move them and have them sit properly within background. When these settings are not used the meters do not look/sit right on almost all RC skins.

Hey 2of3, that does work as well.

Vamp. here are the images than can be a TGA image

MouseoverItemSkin, SelectItemSkin, ArrowPopup, ArrowPopup_Selected and the SeparatorItemSkin, if you use a normal state for items (this can be most helpful for shadowing the text ) the image for it can also be a tga.

For a normal section add

[NormalItemSkin]
hBitmap=selected2.tga (remove this line if no image)
TopHeight=5
BottomHeight=5
LeftWidth=5
RightWidth=5
TileCenter=0
TileVCenter=0
UseTransparency=1
ShadowEffect=1
ShadowIntensityIcons=0
ShadowIntensityText=150
ShadowOffsetText.x=2
ShadowOffsetText.y=2
ShadowColor= 0 0 0
ShadowOffsetIcons.x=2
ShadowOffsetIcons.y=2
ShadowBlurIcons=2
ShadowBlurText=1
TextColor=255 255 255

Turn off your WB skinners brain, RightClicks are much simpler, you may be over thinking things.

So, can SKS 5 and 6 peacefully co-exist on the same computer?  I've been looking for an older version of SKS that supported RC, but never thought to look on Impulse...

If only we COULD use png's for the background.  Ah that would be sweet.

Here's a tip (yeah, this coming from me - who's lucky if he can find his behind with a flashlight and instructions half the time) about working with 'magic pink'.  Save the .bmp first, then bring it back into your editor program.  Don't know why, but it seems (at least on my machine) that it's much easier to get the "mp" parts right than trying to do it on the original image.

Probably a 'tip' every one know about, but still thought I'd share...

Hey Kitty, here are the changes I have made to the general section of the menuskin file; changes and additions bolded

EdgeBuffer_Top=60
EdgeBuffer_Bottom=12
EdgeBuffer_Left=25       added; these two move everything in from edges of image
EdgeBuffer_Right=10

ItemHeight=18
ItemIconBuffer_LeftOfIcon=8  edited settings; these three control item in from edge of mouseover image.
ItemIconBuffer_BetweenTextAndIcon=2
ItemIconBuffer_RightTextClip=10
ItemTextOnlyBuffer_LeftOfText=8

try them and see what ya think.

Posted here not PMed so others may be helped understand the settings.
