not coding.........but settings contained within a .obskin or .menuskin file

2. can the background be png or only bmp

bmp and you need to use magic pink to create transparency

3. i would love someone to volunteer and email me and give me some tips on how to make them...as im pretty confused

best thing is to open one up and see what's in it.....change settings and see what they do

4. what are the arrows for?

arrowpopup and arrowpopupselected are the only 2 you really need to worry about....they point to secondary menus

5. when i have finally made it, how to i package it? is it zip?

yes....copy the whole directory into a zip file

couple of  tips:

1. If you are making one from a blind, use The UIS2 window frames for the background. If they have rounded corners, you have already put in the pixel editing work!

2. Rediscover mspaint

Well.... any other pic *can* be used, even shaded PNGs/TGAs - with some careful modding
(Been there - done that)

hmm...im doing sort of okay so far........ i didnt realize that right click was actually so small...!! i guess the font is something i have to play with until i get it right..... i made my background image huge thinking the actual image would be bigger, i made it 350 x 500 ........does that matter??

thankyou 2of3 for your tips.......

what about the margins......im having a bit of trouble with those....ive made my image wider to adjust (yes im doing this the hard way) the top of the frame has wings, the same as my top_pp frames in my wb that i have shown in my wip.....i guess just keep fugging with them till its right?

The Margins are just the same as for a WB, need to be set inside the part of image you do not want to be stretched, both ways, if you have an intricate pattern at the top, all the way, the part of it between the left and right width will still be stretched even when top width is set below pattern. Thus you need to keep any intricate designing to the edges of image so there is something between them to be stretchable. Hope this makes sense.
